Kudos to walmart

This is common. In the Raeford, NC area, a WM built in the early 2000's sells them, but one built about 7 miles down the same highway in 2009(ish) doesn't. I knew the sporting goods manager at the new one- she said that its a simple matter of knowing that when someone wants to purchase a gun at WM, people will be willing to drive the extra short distance, so the PITA of running a gun counter isn't worth it. However, the new WM sold ammo, hunting accessories, etc.
It was weird because this Walmart in particular never got rid of the ammo ,accessories, or hunting stuff. Just the guns.

I'm glad to hear another Walmart in NY has begun selling firearms. There are four Walmart stores in NY State south of Albany that I can confirm do carry (long) guns: Middletown, Fishkill, Mohegan Lake, plus Middle Island (out on Long island).

Why, oh, why are we even talking about Walmart. I haven’t been in a Walmart in over 20 years, and do just fine,
There is a Ace Hardware only 5 miles away that has a complete gun department,,, very helpful, good prices,,, 5 miles in the other direction is another Ace Hardware that only sells ammo,, a most complete selection, at very, very good prices,.....same town is an FFl that will sell any gun I order online for just the transfer fee.,,
Thirty miles up the freeway, where we go to grocery shop every week, the Dunham’s kills with their pricing,,,,I am known there and the lady in the gun department always gives me sale prices.....
Sure there is a Walmart, I think a mile down the road from them....but why bother,

So why do you people need and love Walmart so much and bitch about them constantly???

Let me put it this way. I don't really like Walmart. The intent of my post was the fact that a large company brought back the sales of firearms in one of their stores (within the last three months, since that was the last time I was there before this) . Particularly in today's world where the media frowns upon guns. Which to me was really refreshing and made me kinda feel like maybe all hope isn't lost....maybe?

No I'm not going to buy a gun from Walmart. I support my LGS . I buy my guns and ammo from them with the exception of a few gun broker purchases ,which they did the transfers and got money for. I do stop at Walmart in a pinch like heading to shoot at a buddies and want a splatter target, or maybe i want 50 rounds of cheap 38 special fmjs because I thought I had some and found that I didnt and want to put some rounds through my carry gun . Or the other night i stopped because I had a big outdoor work event today and it was supposed to rain all day and turn to snow so I wanted to grab a can of silicone to coat my hat so my dang head to get saturated standing out there for a few hours.

I think it's fantastic that your local hardware stores sells guns and ammo. I WISH mine did. That would be pretty dang cool. Living in Upstate NY and being under 30 ,I have never in my life seen a gun sold anywhere but a big chain store ,general store or gun store. I don't travel much I guess LOL.

I haven't seen a gun for sale in a hardware store in years. Wal Marts here never stopped selling them. I haven't bought a gun from a Wal-Mart since the mid-90's. I bought a Marlin model 60 in one. They wouldn't let me buy ammunition at the same time as the rifle. They said I could take it to my vehicle & come back & buy it but not buy both at the same time. I haven't felt inclined to buy anymore there since then.

Stopped at the ol Wally world on my way home from work today to grab a can of silicone spray. Meander back to sporting goods and what do you know...brand new counter (although the ammo was a jumbled mess). And behind that shiny new counter ....GUNS! A few Mossberg shotguns and a few various rifles ,maybe 8 total?

The significance of this is, Walmarts around here (this one in particular) haven't had guns in atleast ten years. This area is a rapidly growing area too. I was super shocked to see them bring guns back. Even though the selection was less than impressive it,and I doubt it would be a smooth buying experience,it was just a real refreshing thing to seen, especially in this day and age, in New York state of all places. So ,way to go Wally world .

That is nice to see Bones741! The Walmart close to me also sells guns.
I heard Dicks sporting goods is going to stop selling guns in 125 stores. They are blaming it on lack of gun sales and now their going to start pulling hunting gear off their shelves. They are just another company that caved under the pressure of the anti gun groups.
