Does anyone know of a good video on how to make a kydex holster? or Has anyone made one and can walk me thru the process?

Being some what on the round side it's hard to find a paddle holster that works well.

Key thing I've wanted to know was,
1) How do they make the sight channel?
2) What is the best thickness to work with? .060, .080, .093?

Thanks for any help that can be given.

Roll one up and post the pics! One of the coolest holsters I've ever seen was a home made kydex or maybe it was just cheap plastic. But, it was transparent with a slight white coloration ... really looked cool.

BTW ... though I've never attempted to bend kydex or modify my holsters, I understand that you have to heat up Kydex or plastic pretty good and (again, this is heresay) from what I understand it can mar certain finishes so be careful you don't want to ruin your gun.

Here's a place to get a very basic dvd on how to do it:

Don't expect hi-tech quality, but it's a place to start. My experience has been that the .06 works best for pocket holsters, and the .08 and .093 work best for IWB/OWB holsters respectively.

Here's a link to how to make a kydex knife sheath:

The principles are very similar for making a holster.

Good luck to you! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the help, I think I got a better understanding on what to do after looking at that knive tutoral.

I'm still perplex how companies like BladeTech and others make their sight channel. I wonder if they tape a small dowel to the top of the gun, and then form the kydex around that. Without something like that it seems that it the kydex would pinch the front sight.

K-Man thank you for your service to the great nation of ours and I like your website.
