Additional comments made by LNL owners are noted as follows:

---Canuck, IL - Reports that change in primer system came at serial number 7,000.

---Walkalong - Has a Pro-Jector with serial # 18,396. He also says the $29 he spent for his EZ-Ject upgrade was worth the expense.

---Randy - States that Hornady started offering the EZ-Ject system in Jan 2009. Serial number unknown. Converted his to EZ-Ject in June 09.

---Ole Farmer Buck - Hornady told him they started the EZ-Ject system with serial number 15,000, so his press at 16,153 is one of the first presses with EZ-Ject. He also reports he just got his 2nd LNL press Jan 2010.

---Mongoose - Hornady started offering the EZject in Jan '09--He bought his LnL in December '08 and it has the EZ-ject.

---Sommerled reports his oldest (2001) LNL press has the old primer system with the brass tubes where you remove the whole steel containment sleeve. It also has the primer plunger with thumb nut that is a poor design, hard to tighten and comes loose alot. Also the return spring for the powder measure pulls down at an angle with this older press and it sometimes binds up if not dry lubed. The wire ejects work most of the time when occasionally rubbed with a little die sizing wax on the contact area with a Q-tip.

I will continue to add new data as long as folks continue reporting same on this thread.

Of all the serial numbers reported, only six or seven were purchases made prior to 2008, and mine was the lowest serial number reported - until a week or so ago when "whistlerswe" reported serial number 146. That beats me for the lowest serial number. I am still the only one, however, who has reported purchasing a machine prior to the year 2000.

I keep this LNL serial number info on a M-Soft Excel spreadsheet. I can send a copy of the Excel file via E-Mail to anyone who would like it.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile

Hey everyone I wanted to give an update. Got the new part (drive hub) after 3 days and since have loaded some 500 plus pistol rounds, both 9mm and 45acp. So far so good. Everything about the press seems to work fine, and as advertised it is a nice machine.

Now all I've got to do is feed it:D

S/N 36039 purchased early Dec 2011 from Cabelas and S/N 33037 purchased from Grafs in Jan 2012. Makes me wonder why the Grafs delivery had earlier S/N. Perhaps coincidentally, 33037 needed a good 'tuning' of the auto-index pawls to work properly.

cheers
johng

His also broke, along with the replacement part. So it sounds like everyone should stay away from all LNL with the S/N 36,000 to about 36,500,those are all the ones that are breaking.
Anyplace else this would be a recall.

Since I'm 36,156....now you know why I'm busy loading 700 rounds of 45 ACP 200 LSWC over VV N320 for two pistol classes I'm taking this spring (500+ done, just a few more to go). I'll feel better once I've got those under my belt.

Anyplace else this would be a recall.

Recalls are expensive and i am not sure these breakages on the Hornady press are a safety problem. It is an aggravation and frustration for the user.

It sounds like Hornady is replacing the broken part without issue, honoring their warranty. This a reasonable solution balancing cost with customer satisfaction.

My serial number is 36045.

The drive hub broke after appx. 800 rounds, also, the case feeder cam wire does not go down far enough to allow 45ACP to feed properly

Hornady sent a new hub on January 25th, and the new hub broke on the first round.

Tonight I made a billet 7075 aluminum hub, and in my testing so far it seems to be holding up. I made the base much thicker, and where the key is on the cast hub I drilled a 1/8" hole and inserted a roll pin to make a replaceable key.

well another one to add to the list. Mine broke while decapping and sizing only. I am pretty sure it happened on the down stroke and just pulled apart as it tried to pull the case out of the decapper/resize die. My serial number is 35963 purchased in Novermber 2011. only have loaded 75 bullets and decapped about 35 on this machine when it broke.

26230
EZ-Ject
5/25/2010

In excess of ten thousand rounds, now loading 4 calibers and ZERO failures.

I've got #22907, purchased in Dec, 2009, and have close to 30,000 rounds through it. Hornady replaced the female bushings that failed due to poor heat treating. Everything else is flawless, and I prime on the machine, small pistol and large rifle, with no problems, after a few minor tweaks. I've only had to adjust the cams once.
