Hello from Labgrad's son,
I wanted to let everone know how much all of your thoughts, prayers, and gifts meant to me and my family. I still believe, to this day, that those things made all the difference in my families success.

Since the fire, my wife and I moved us and our three kids up to Longmont from Colorado Springs. We see my mom everyday as we dog sit Chocco. It's the coolest thing, seeing her so much now. We miss Alan though...I think we always will. My mom is doing well. She's the toughest, strongest person I've ever met. Steel Magnolia through and through.

As we aproach the third anniversary of the transplant, I am happy to report that all is well. My wife's MS is also under control at this point, which I am very greatful for. All health fronts are steady and good. Three years, man everyday is something new.

In closing I want to wish all a Merry Holiday and a Happy Christmas (and to all a good night...):)

Great to hear from you, Shane! Many of us were praying hard and often for you as you went through the transplant, and it's good to hear that your recovery has continued. Please be a frequent visitor!

Happy holidays to you and yours. :) Please drop by here once in a while. It's good to hear about how things are going.

Shane. Welcome to the forums.

I moved back to Longmont about seven months ago and hope to stay for good this time. Send me a PM and we'll get together some time after the new year.

I miss your dad a lot. I only met him once in person but that was enough. When I proposed leafletting the airports for arming pilots he was the first to jump on board. The pro-firearms movement lost a valiant ally at his passing.

Shane - big welcome :)

Larry kindly sent me the link to this thread, because I was keen to say Hi and welcome you along.

I am so pleased things went well for you with the op' and also have been privilaged to have exchanged some communications with your Mom - she is a totally outstanding and remarkable lady.

For those oldies of us here who were ''involved'' when Alan's untimely demise occurred - I think we all not only remember him with enormous affection but also think of him very often. He made on heck of a mark on many folks - a legacy we can be proud of IMO. I have one favorite pic of him I look at periodically.

Not on topic but also another old friend from the forum I remember well was Kentucky Rifle. It is strange how even thru this cyber medium we can form attachments with folks that are very meaningful.

Stay with us and enjoy the forum.

I feel a little strange sending this to someone I don't know. Hope you don't view it as an intrusion.

However, having over come adversity myself, there's a kindred thread I feel for others who have done the same. Truely, it is what seperates the steel from the twig about to snap in the wind.

That's wonderful about your health (and that of your wife's). The strong survive.

From what others have said in this thread, you and your family are fine folks.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Shane,

Welcome aboard. It is very good to have you here.

As already said, something interesting about how connections can be made online between people who haven't even met. Your father was a special person who helped make this place what it is. He is missed.

We were following your ordeals always hoping and praying for the best. I'm glad to hear you are doing well.

I hope you stick around. You are already a big part of this place, and you were even before you started posting.

Shane ~

I'm glad to hear our prayers for you were answered so well. May God continue to bless you in the coming year.

Shane welcome.

Even though I was a lurker for for much of Alan's theads about you & then later the tragic threads about what happened to him, my thoughts have been with you off & on over the years. He did have a large impact with many people who you will probably never meet. I'm sure that many glasses are being raised in a silent toast tonight as the memories are brought back to the surface.

They are here - cheers.

Greg
