What strikes me is how the lady is crying in horror and fear of the handgun that she just discovered, and how the newsmen taking the photos of the gun are doing some really unsafe things to avoid touching it.

Such are the expected results of fear plus ignorance.

Here's the link. Be sure to watch the video.

Amazing how a matter of such minor significance brings this woman to tears----on national television yet! I suspect that she is mentally unstable.

It's hilarious how a lot of people treat guns like poisonous tree frogs that spit fire.

    Maybe funny, but...

She was conditioned by something, media, life experience, SOMETHING, to react with so much emotion. I think it's tragic.

And the media, taking photos while the gun was being handled in such an unsafe manner.... doesn't ANYONE know anything anymore?

I also got the impression that someone called the media before they called the police.... bizzare, except that I'm not sure I spelled "bizarre" correctly. WTH.

Not if they keep dangling it on an eye liner pencil like a dead snake or something.
    Or whatever that thing is?

She keeps saying that something "could" have happened, well maybe so, but then something "could" have happened driving to and from the sale. Life is full of uncertainties.

Even a person who hates guns (or snakes) will lose his or her fear of them given familiarity. Childhood education about how to be safe around firearms would have solved the whole issue.

    She's, helpless, ugly.

My laptop case always contains a loaded 5904 (in a conveniently placed internal pocket that it was fortuitously designed to have)... ...Except when it leaves my custody.

    Somebody made a big oops!

You should tie a safety orange ribbon to the trigger guard so they have something to pick it up and drop it on the concrete with!

I went to this church sale once, and all the boxes were full of Brown Recluse spiders and egg nests!!
    AND cockroaches too!!!!

    Ye-Haw!
You got ourselves a real infestation of deadly spiders and La Cucaracha if you take that bad boy home and throw in on top of the junk in the back bedroom without looking in it!

IMO From: A former Kansas Hunter Safety Instructor, me.
If gun safety were allowed to be taught in public schools, none of this boo-hoo on youtube BS would happen because the general public would at least not be terrified of an inert loaded firearm.

13 year old Grandson: "Can I see the gun?"
Grandma: "OMG NOO!!! Don't you know those things can kill you? They're extremely dangerous. Now let me smoke this cigarette while I think about what to do."

I'm not against smoking mind you, but their idiocy is surprising. Wait, no it's not.

I agree with RC, gun safety should be taught to everyone. For little kids, the Eddie Eagle, and for those who are smart enough (so for some people: never) how to safely handle a gun, even if you never shoot one.

That said, I agree with the lady in the story. While I am not scared of loaded guns, I think if you're selling something with a loaded gun in it, the buyer should be made aware. It is entirely possible that someone forgot that it was in the bag or that the gun was used in a crime and this was a way of dumping it. If I had bought the laptop bag, I'd like to find out and maybe have it find its way home.

As to the media...pick it up by the grip and keep your finger out of the trigger guard! Why are you touching a gun if you don't know what you're doing? Maybe we should all give the media the Eddie Eagle program. If you see a gun, find someone who's doodads have descended to deal with it.

    The clinical term is "hoplophobia".

Sad how many people are afflicted by this epidemic and sadder still that our medical community seem uninterested in encouraging a cure.

Fortunately, there is an effective treatment. Take a non-gunner to a shooting range.

    Two things...

    1. Why can't I find a revolver in things I buy?

    2. I had never seen someone recoil in fear of guns until the other day. We are watching a friends cats:barf: due to an unfortunate housing situation. She comes over to see them, and I am cleaning my wifes revolver. She literally jumped back when she saw it. Well after a while of telling her how much fun target shooting is, she said she might come try it.:D It is a start, gotta convert them all.
