Hey everyone, I'm looking for any info on Lama. I've got a co-worker who's offered his to me for $200. I'm pretty sure that's a great deal, for any 1911, but what am I getting into. I do know that Lama when belly up a while ago...Anything else? Thank

I had one several years ago and absolutely no problems through several thousand rounds. Fed everything I put in it. Not a fancy gun but seemed well built enough for the price, I think they were $299 new when I bought mine.

For 2 C notes, grab it up. I used to own a Llama 1911 but traded it for a Sprinfield 1911, what a mistake. The Llama functioned just fine, the only thing that bothered me was the inability to change the rear sight easily, dovetail for rear sight is not US standard. Don't remember if the magazines were interchangeable with the Colt/clones or not. The Llama was accurate and I never had a malfunction with it. Got rid of the Springfield soon as parts started falling off. Now own a Llama mini-max 40 which I am happy with.

Their hit and miss. My last one was crap. Some parts are getting hard to find. They are not 100% 1911 compatable

There are two different versions, one with a forged slide, and one that is not. The one that is forged isn't too bad, the one that is not I wouldn't touch with a 10 ft. pole. You can tell these because the slide looks different up front where the recoil spring tunnel is. Where the slide is cut thinner in a radius and then goes straight on a forged slide, these just go straight out from the frame all the way to the end and it almost looks as if the recoil spring tunnel is a seperate part that was attached to the slide. That's because it is, the frame rails run all the way out the end and the tunnel is slid in and brazed in place. If you look closely you can see it from the front, you may have to remove the barrel bushing. None of the parts in this model interchange. The magazine is physically larger, a Colt mag slops around in the well. These mags are hard to find. This slide usually has a rib running the length of it on the top. This is the earlier model, the forged models came later and are better.

I had a llama .380, I liked it, except that it shot itself apart within 500 rounds. The frame was peened from the slide and the barrel had a hole worn into its top by the bushing. If the gun was done right, I'd still own one. I really did like it

Does it look like this with the plain, brown grips? If so, for the price not a bad deal at all. Look for the markings above the trigger guard and I'll give you a d.o.b. on your model..

Mad Magyars pistol is the later forged slide, not the earlier two-piece slide.
