PERFECT, My dad is comming ot visit that weekend and he lives in Denver so I might try to make that a stop for the trip. Doubt I will stay overnight but I will try to be there. We should try to get another set up for later this summer since a lot of people can't make this one due to short notice. The Green River/ Rock Springs area has good shooting ranges and a lot of area to just go shoot in the prarie and lots of 'yotes and P.Dogs.

On Thursday morning, April 24......cheapest regular gasoline I see in the Denver area is $3.31/gal.

Average is $3.41/gal

Anyone know if gas is any cheaper in Laramie?

It's 3:45 AM on Wednesday, April 30th as I write this from Denver.

I've been watching the developing weather for SE Wyoming for the past several days.

For an outdoor activity in the area of Wheatland R#3 the period of May 2-4......it looks pretty dismal.

I've put my preparations on "HOLD".......and will say that it looks very doubtful that my wife and I will make the gamble that a "sunshine miracle" will happen. The SE Wyoming "weather alert" that I just read simply sounds too ominous.

What do the rest of ya'll think?

Yes indeed folks, click here for the forecast:

It's pretty darn irritating considering the beautiful weather we have had the last couple of days. Anyhow, I don't blame you a bit if you don't come and maybe we can schedule again in the summer.

For those are going to stick it out, I will indeed be out there Friday afternoon/evening, depending on what time I get off of work.

Once again, if you have any questions, send me a private message and I will get you my phone number and we can go from there.

It's all my fault.

I've got 18 truck loads of cattle scheduled to arrive north of Rock River Friday and Sat.

In the last seven years, any time I have scheduled shipments, spring or fall, I have had to postpone at least some of the trucks due to weather.

Only trouble is, the guy that has been feeding them all winter is out of feed.

Talk about about being between a rock and a hard place. I'm there..

Noid, I'm bettin' this isn't the first time that good ol' mother nature has throwed a turd in the churn on you with something you have planned. :cuss:

Can you imagine 18 55,000# trucks trying to navigate Marshall Rd in the mud?

Rock River has a way of testin' yure character, that's for sure.:banghead:

I got stuck in New Orleans and won't be back till Fri nite. Then I have to get back in the air to Winnipeg on Sunday. I'm not going to make it either. :fire:

But by the sounds of the weather, it's not really a bad thing. :uhoh:

I'll keep an eye on this for future opportunities.

I'm thinkin' it's a wooly booger up there today.. Blowing snow and wind gusts to 70mph.. You would have to take about a 100 yards of windage to pop a dog up there today!!

Ok folks, nasty weather here this morning. Snow on the ground, snow in the air. Supposed to get real cold tonight, but clear out. Saturday is supposed to be nice in the 50's, and the wind is supposed to lay down for the day. Anyhow, I will be out there for a few tonight to see if any diehards show up, if not I will also be out there tomorrow morning with my son to have some shooting fun.

Once again, if you don;t show up, I don't blame you as mother nature has dealt us a cold hand this time.

Iggy, I don;t like driving my jeep down Marshall when it;'s nasty, let alone a big rig...NO WAY JOSE!!!

Chuck

Well, no snow, no mud.

Sat and Sunday look to be pretty nice days.

Good luck!!!

Chuck.......up in Rock River........

Thank you for doing all the legwork and organizing of the get-together at Wheatland Res. #3.

I hope a few folks did show up. The weather sure didn't want to cooperate as far as encouraging a whole lotta folks to enjoy the adventure.

That's nice country up there. I've hunted goats in Unit 42 near WR#3......on True's property. I hunted NW of the res...camped by a big corral up there, right off Fetterman Rd. It's sure a nice place to spend some relaxing time.

Anyway, my friend....."Thank you" for all that you did, and hopefully we can all have another chance at doing it again. Maybe bribe the weatherman beforehand!!!

Ok, so the weather pretty much cleared up Firday evening so I took a short trip out to the lake to see if anyone showed up for some camping. They did not, and I can't blame them...it got COLD. Anyhow, headed out Saturday morning to check again and still nobody there, no big deal, my son and I shot some gophers and pDogs and had a good time. Unfortunately on the way home, my Jeep's motor gave up on me so I have to go tow her in tonight. We ended up going back out Saturday as the weather was pretty nice in the AM. My wife, two sons, and two good friends went out this time and we had about 4 hours of great shooting fun and then the darn Wyoming wind came up. Was actually kind of breezy early in the afternoon but heck, we don;t even notice such things around here until it's above 25mph or so, hehe.

I am sorry the weather didn;t cooperate with us this time but it;s usually a crapshoot when planning such things in Wyoming in the Spring. We shall have to arange for another shot at it in coming months if anyonei s interested.

Also, we don't need a special date folks, anytime you want to come up for the weekend, or just a day, or whatever, ALWAYS feel free to get in touch with me and we can have some fun times.

I wanted to come but 120mph+ winds Friday caused a derailment on Sherman hill so I got stuck at work for most of the weekend.

Today sure was nice and I actually got out and reduced the prairie dog population.

Count me in on the next one.

Hey guys, here's a thought, I know it may be a little further than SE Wyo but we have a taylor made get together already happening over in Kemmerer Wyo May31-June1st, Yea it's the Appleseed that you have heard about, good guys, lots of shooting and classic instruction hands down the best bang for your buck check it out.http://appleseedinfo.org

Well since the last one didn't work out how about setting one up for the begging/middle of July? It should be nice then (assuming we don't get more tornados or giant hail). Anywhere in southern Wyo would work great.

I don't know anything about the range where the last one was going to be but if you guys can stand Rock Springs, we have a nice public range between Green River and Rock Springs with three five stall 250yd sections and one five stall 500yd section. In Green River we have an OK range with about ten benches and at least a 700yd target, you could probably get one out at 1000yds if you felt like walking out there to do it. We have lots of PD shooting near both ranges and plenty of opportunities for camping along with two gun stores and several places that sell ammo.

Looks like I just missed the Appleseed up in Douglas (5/31-6/1). BUT...it appears that there is another one scheduled there for 9/6-9/7.

I am definitely in for that one. How 'bout some other Wyomingites/N Coloradoans get together and come out for it?

You are not going to believe this, but.....

If you pre-register for the Appleseed in Douglas on September 6-7, you shoot FREE. Yep, no admission fee for this shoot, IF pre-register. (if you don't, it is $80 at the door)

So, they only have room for 100 shooters, so you had better see if you can get your fellows from CO to come on up and enjoy.

A FREE Appleseed shoot?! There is NO reason why we can't fill this one up with patriots from around the area. Last night I talked to 4 guys from our church who are highly interested. Once I tell them about the new 'cost' there will be 5 slots filled for sure.

I sure am looking forward to this....

Thanks for the info!

I would love to make the one in Douglas but my rifle won't get here till tomorrow and I need some time to get to know it.

Ah.....That is the lamest excuse I have ever had the displeasure to read :neener:

First the shoot is not until Sept 6-7, so plenty of time.

Two, what better way to "get to know your rifle" than to spend two solid days, putting 400+ rounds down the tube, with quality instructions to back you up?

OK, we will mark you as "coming" on the officail list, see you there. ;)
