UPDATE: 04/18/11 Completion of Project StopLite

Ok guys like I promise I would up date my little MagPul mod aka Project StopLite. I'll start a mod thread for that but heres the finale...

I picked up a Sig Sauer StopLite @ www.NelsonTactical.com for $161.60 shipped.

Range Report:
No ill affects on the gas piston feeding . Sent 30rds down range and had more control of the shotgun. Love this upgrade!!!

The Mesa Tactical shell holders bolts ;I heard pinches the frame ... I dont know it that would affect anything internally. I; too plan on doing the 8 shot shell holder from them but if the bolts pinching the frame affects the performance. I'll toss it in the trash...

Installed the Mesa Sure Shell on Thursday and ran 3 Gun with it on Saturday. No problems whatsoever. The Mesa uses chicago screws which will prevent pinching of the receiver if the washers are installed correctly. I only wish I went with the 8 shell holder over the 6.

So Ripp if you want a 6 shell holder, buy an 8 shell holder and I will trade you and pay the difference.

I do have problems with turning the safety on and off but with the bigger safety switch its alot easier to reach for it with either the off hand or my thumb...

That is why I don't like a full pistol grip stock on a Mossberg.

That's good to here about the side saddle working well. I'm looking at getting one for mine. I may go with a three gun gear one though.

I was thinking of going with the 8shell carrier but I was told that Mesa Tactical shell carrier would make interfer with the operation of my 930SPX and I decided not to ... I'm almost at the end of the build... I havent decided whether to purchase a ETA rhino tactical rail system on this or not... I dont know

UPDATE 04/27/11:

Back at you guys once again !!! with a few updates...
1)Nordic +3 Mag Tube
2)TruLock Tacitcal Choke which I purchased from Bob Day at www.americhoke.com (who did the port job on my barrel for me)

1) Nordic Components +3 Mag Tube:
Awesome upgrade for my 930SPX. The mag extension is a high quality piece very happy with it. My main issue was my S&J Hardware Delrin Follower doesnt work well with the supplied spring and I messed up on the cutting of the spring... So I what I did since I fubar'ed my Nordic Spring I used my factory spring for now...

2)The TruLock Tactical choke was back ordered from TruLock and took some time for Bob to get a hold of one... So I waited and it finally came today... Bob is a great guy to deal with. And I'm very happy with the Tactical Choke gives the Mossberg 930SPX a certain look I was after but I already place an order with Bob for a riffled choke choke to try out as well... If you guys want your Shotgun barrels worked on by a knowledgable guy, who does quality work and fast turn around Bob Day @ www.americhoke.com is the one to go with... If you guys end up going with him please let him know about this review.

Anyone know where I can get some remington 12gauge accutip sabot slugs ???

Sabot slugs are usually for fully rifled barrels. Remington's page says as much about the Accutip sabot slugs specifically.

I know the accutips are riffled only but I thought the copper solids are ok in a riffled choked smooth bore...

I don't know about copper solids, but I know the general rule is solid lead slugs for smooth bore, sabots for rifled.

UPDATE 05/07/11

Well, I had the Nordic 3/4" extended cap even when I went shooting the slugs down range. I didnt really post an update about it because I fubared the stock Nordic Spring and wanted to wait for my little experiement to come in. I ordered a Wolff Extra Power spring (Part No.17905 ) for a Mossberg 590 8 + 1 mag tube or a 500 7 + 1 ... Cost was $8.99 @ http://www.gunsprings.com ... And it worked perfect especially if you use the +3 Mag Extension w/ 3/4" Extended End Cap from Nordic Components. The Wolff spring was definitely easier to install and give alot more positive feeding of the shells; right to the last round.

I just need a couple more items for my 930SPX to be complete.

I have a 930SPX as well, love it to death. Replaced the mag tube spring and follower with Nordic Components parts after some feed failures. Also changed out the charging handle with a Choate skeleton paddle handle, looks awesome IMHO. Also have a Wilson Combat vertical sling mount for an Rem 870. Nothing else to change on it, runs like a dream.

New Jersey does not allow a pistol grip on a semi-auto shotgun or a magazine above 6.

Ill be picking on of these up first of the month. Looks like a solid gun for the money. It wont be able to completely replace my 590, but it looks like a good second shotty to have around.
