Latest cartridge you're reloading?

.30-'06, at least in the sense that I never loaded it for a Garand before.

Prior to that, .38 Colt with the heeled bullet, which required several new-to-me tricks.

And prior to that, blackpowder 12 gauge, in both paper and brass hulls, also using techniques to which I hadn't previously been exposed.

It's neat that the hobby is deep enough to offer novelties even after decades of experience.

It's .308 for me. I only supply for 2.80, 9x19, .45 ACP, .223, and .308.

If a trade goes the way I think it will, I may have to start looking at .38 Special components and dies.

The last new to me cartridge I started loading for was a 6.5-284. I shot it in a custom competition rifle and I also built a Varmint rifle in that caliber cut with the same chamber reamer. The most recent cartridge that I have loaded was a 308. Lapua brass, F210M primer, IMR 4064 powder and a Sierra 150 ProHunter. My standard Deer load for more than a few decades.

I have been researching that myself as I'm thinking hard about buying a Garand. I didn't realize that one had to worry about bending an op rod if 1945 30/06 pressures were exceeded. Makes me think maybe I should just build a AR10. As far as my latest reloading goes, I'm back where it all started for me 40 years ago-.45 ACP.

9mm for me.

Commercial ammo used to be cheap enough that it didn't make sense to me to start reloading it. But then ammo prices went up, and I got interested.

Before 9mm I'd been reloading for 8 handgun cartridges and 7 rifle cartridges.

Same
Never seems like I have enough 9mm on hand

True that. For many years, I didn't load either 9mm or 5.56mm... it was simply cheaper buying factory vs handloading when you consider total cost plus my time. But... things change. I'm loading 9mm and 5.56mm, now... much to my dismay.

The Garand is a fun rifle to shoot... and easy to load for. 47grn IMR4895 under any 150grn'ish FMJ and you are in high cotton. It is not an AR-10... but in a good way. :)

After a great deal of reading, I am of the opinion that the op rod issue has far more to do with improper lubrication than overpressure loads. Apparently the gun really wants a bit of grease in the right spots and then can deal with just about any standard load, whereas a lightly oiled rifle is quite susceptible to damage.

I personally am protecting my rifle both with grease and burrito gas loads, but I strongly suspect I am being needlessly cautious.

I'm looking at these adjustable gas plugs as op rod insurance too.

Inspired by the "first caliber reloaded thread," what is the latest cartridge you have begun reloading?

I just started exploring the 6 ARC, following closely on the heels of the 6 GT. My work schedule the past six months has really curtailed my time at the bench and at the range, but those are my latest projects.
I started reloading .40S&W about five years ago. That’s my latest. About a year before that I stopped reloading .221 Fireball, 7mm Mauser, and 7.65 Argentine. I sold off so much in the last ten years pretty soon I’ll be down to just .357Mag/.38Spl - which is where I started. Full circle. :)
