I found a 1851 44 brasser at a cheap price. Since I have wanted a c&b snubbie I took it to my gunsmith . He chopped the barrel, rounded the grip and recontoured the area under the barrel. I did the polishing and finishing. Nothing fancy but I like it, especially the wood in the grip.

What do you think?

If you like it then it's great.
I also wanted a short barreled revolver so I spent one hot summer afternoon in my cool basement coming up with this a few years ago.
I was trying to aim for something closer to a birdshead grip.

I have no particular use for a snubbie like that but they look kinda cool. They make me think of a coat pocket gun for a gambler on a Mississippi River boat circa 1868. Wonder how far they are accurate? How about a range report when you get a chance to try it?

The grain on those grips is gorgeous and the wood to metal fit looks great as well.

Here;s a video showing the accuracy of an 1861 Colt .36 with a 2 inch barrel at 15 meters.
The result of 12 shots fired are described as being head sized.
After firing at the shotshells at the beginning of the video, 2 full cylinders are fired at a target after the 4:15 mark.

Arcticap, Thanks for that video. I'm surprised the snubbie was that accurate at 15 meters. I imagined it being good only for across the poker table. Also, I liked the method for reloading the cylinder without the ram. Reminds me of the Lee Loader whack-a-mole kits I enjoy using: basic but effective.
