One reason there's a brass deflector on the M16 is a case on a rifle range where a piece of hot brass went down a shooter's collar, and in his frantic gyrations to get it out, he shot another man on the line.

The reason they said anything about the curvature of the earth is cause the CABC computer that comes with the higher end cheytac rifles accounts for that once you input the distance. So of course cheytac would mention that since they are using their rifle. It is just a little pda that you put all the variables into and it tells you how much to turn the turrets on your scope.

During basic training, I was qualifying with my M16A2. During the process of firing to qualify, I had a 5.56X45mm case eject and land on the sandbag and roll down to the middle finger of my left hand, I could feel it burning my skin.:fire: But being the intrepid wannabe warrior I ignored the pain and kept shooting and was qualified expert. I still have the scar!
