Lazer Sight question....

My son deploys for Afghanistan soon, bought him a pair of Crimson Trace Lazer grips for his issue M9....grips are currently in route to him...but now I have a question.

Can the lazer beam "stream" be seen at night by others to source it back to the shooter?

Anyone have any experience with how these work with night vision equipment?

Would like to give him a "heads up" if this is the case at night.

Don't use'm!!!

Yes laser grips can ABSOLUTELY been seen by other shooters!! They lead right back to the shooter @ night and are highly visible....

While they cant really be seen in "clean air," they can be easily seen in airborn dust, smoke, fog, ect. The darker it is, the easier they are to see. Advise him to use with extreme cation.

If I'm not mistaken, CT make laser grips with a beam visible only through night-vision equipment, for use by law enforcement only. I'm sure your son would qualify to buy a set - why not contact CT and see if they'll take back the set you bought him and exchange them for a set of the LE grips?

I've got the CT laser on a 45 Kimber, S&W Model 10 and a S&W Model 36.

Used correctly they are great.
A Red Dot followed a split second later by a black hole.

Yes as been already said the beam can be seen, so NO it is not used like a flashlight.
It does not light up a target like a flashlight. There are few reasons to have it on until you gun is already pointed at the target or as close as you can judge.

Then the laser is lit.
The dot is centered on target, if it isn't already, and held there as the gun is fired.

With practice the laser shouldn't be lit for more than a couple seconds.

The laser within it's limits is a useful tool.
