LCP Max: Good or Bad?

My P32 was a nice reliable little shooter, but I traded it off towards a Ruger Super Blackhawk...

 

A friend has one, shoots fine, but it hurls out "dented" brass. He's not a reloader so that doesn't bother him. What is causing this no one knows.

 

I’ve been holding off on buying one, but there was a sale, so I bought one with the hopes that it would replace my BG380, which I absolutely hate the trigger pull.
I was pleasantly surprised that the Ruger feels about the same inside the waistband.
Then, I took it out to the range with a variety of different types of ammunition. It ran 100%. I now know what others have been talking about getting their fingers pinched. Well, that can be taken care of with a Galloway trigger. Now the bad. Shoots 6-8” low at 25 yards, and the groups were a lot larger than the ones I shot with the BG380. Of course I was shooting off sandbags to see what load it was most accurate with, and I came to the conclusion that accuracy sucks with all. I think the best group was with Golden Saber, which probably had a 6” spread. I shoot better groups offhand, even with my little 365s

 

I don’t know, but both of mine did the same thing and ruined a lot of good brass I collected and was planning on using to reload with.

 

Mine is as reliable as a hammer. Not a lot of fun to shoot, but much easier than a Smith 642. Capacity is a nice feature. As many have said, Glock 42 is much more pleasant to shoot, but in my experience, the 42 is slightly bigger in your pocket. As with most CCW guns, you make compromises. That said, it’s nice knowing that I have 11 rounds that are reliably at my disposal. Good luck with your research.

 

Still have a high opinion of the G42; mine have always run flawlessly; it is just a scosh smaller and lighter than the 365. But, full disclosure, the 9mm 365 is so good, and so small, it's hard to carry something else.

I like mine, now that it's been back to the mothership (shooting 4" low at 21'!) for a replacement barrel and gotten a Galloway trigger-that thing had more trigger slap that my WASR 10, without exaggeration.

It now shoots to a 'combat hold' at 21' (front sight dot on point of impact) and will shoot good groups when I can manage the super-light gun, short sight radius and 6# trigger. I've posted this before, but this is after the new barrel and trigger:


Now compare that to my (then brand new to me) Canik at 30', and you'll see that there's some challenge in shooting the little guy well, but I'm making progress.

I’ve got about 300 through my lcp Max now and it’s had no malfunctions and I can hit an 8 in plate at 15 pretty consistent when I focus. Recoil isn’t too bad and the 10 or 12+1 in that size is amazing
