The new APP press is my next press and I've seen some videos of the case collator in action, but it seems to have issues with 9mm brass. For me, that's not an issue since I don't reload 9mm, but I'd like to know how does it do with rimmed cases like .32/.327 Mag and .45 Colt? What about 10mm?

I know with the APP it's not as big an issue if a few cases are upside down as I'll see that immediately and I can pull it out easily, but still I'd like to know beforehand what to expect.

I would think rimmed case will work better, there's more weight it the base then the rimeless cases.

Drill a hole in a penny and use a spent 22LR case to hold the penny in the center of case collator - No more upside down cases.

The penny mod like BDS shows does work well with 9 Luger cases, as I did that when I had a Lee collator and it made a difference.

Maybe the penny mod would help with the rimmed cases you mentioned? I would think it would be worth a try. Let us know how it works if you do.

It works fine with 38 special cases, so it shouldn’t have any issues with 45 Colt. The shorter cases are where the mods come in handy.

Alright, so all the revolver brass should be fine. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on the .40/10 cases when I get the APP press.

Yes, kmw1954, the pex (I used poly pipe) inserts on the case collator work great with 9mm cases. My old fix was a small plastic disk screwed into the top but it still let a few slip through upside down. I sized and primmed a few hundred today and all dropped right side up

Yeup, 9mm and 380 the pex inserts work wonders and I can easily remove them when I change to 45acp.

Pex or other tubing inserts do work great for pistol, but if you want to make Lee's shaker load .223 and .308 with equal ease and fill the tubes in about 40 seconds you might buy another inexpensive Lee collator for rifle cases and modifiy it a bit like it did.:)

Pretty simple weekend project....detailed instuctions including videos at THR ... here:
    https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/rifle-case-collator-for-lees-progressives.857467/

I was a bit final in that thread.....I thought it was going to be my last project thread (heart doctor gave up on my 100% blocked "widow maker") but I found Linus Pauling's vitamin C protocol, and with nothing to lose, I've been taking 8 grams of vitamin C and 6 grams of Lysine a day ever since. I feel so much better and improving every day....so maybe you guys will have to put up with me a little longer. I couldn't even walk a 1% grade sidewalk in January.....now I can run up stairs. I'd say that's a slight improvement......

BTW, I had ordered a deluxe APP in December from Titan......maybe they don't like me.....but it never came....even though they spent my money. I canceled my order and had them refund my credit card.....and reordered from Grafs 5 days ago. UPS says it'll be here Friday.....finally.

I ordered the swager......one of the main reasons I wanted one......so you can see why I might use my Lee shaker rifle mod! ;)
