I bought a Used Lee Pro 1000 and have a few questions.

1. There is a "V" shaped wire that is attached to the case carrier that seems to do nothing. It comes from the carrier in the front near the front verticle support. Anyone have an idea what this does or how it is supposed to work?

2. Where can I find a good exploded view and parts listing? I looked on the Lee site and came up empty.

That press may vary well have a lot of life in it but the pro 1000 is finicky and needs many small parts to come together just perfectly for it to work. From the photo it looks like Lee has changed a few things over the years as there are parts, including the one in question that are different from mine. I think your best bet is to call lee for more info on that phase of the press. They have a phone number on their website that I just called yesterday and spoke with a friendly person.

Here are all my links for the press:

Goto www.leeprecision.com then goto their "instructions" down the left side of the page. For parts and a factory printed instructions goto "products" then to "presses" then Pro 1000 and beside the part number for the press is a little word "parts" click on it. As for your V shaped piece of metal, I can't find it on any of the 3 Pro 1000's that I have. My suggestion is remove it but keep it, and get a clear instruction sheet from Lee, assemble as per the instruction sheet and use the V shaped piece of metal if you need to, but I think it is something someone thought might work for whatever their reasons were.

That "V" shaped piece of wire is the piece that links the case sensor to the primer punch to make the primer system only deliver a primer to the punch when a case is present. It prevents the primer punch from dropping down far enough to let a primer slide on top, unless the case sensor pushes the V-wire to the side, which only happens when a case pushes on the case sensor.

Check out this site:

Great pictures and directions.

EDIT TO ADD:
Now that I've taken a good look at that picture, I haven't got a foggy idea what the heck that wire is for- none of my Pro1000 shellplate carriers have a hole above the locking bolt that the wire could even fit into. Perhaps some sort of custom addition by the previous owner, and as far as the purpose- Sorry, I have no clue.

My Lee Pro 1000 doesn't have that part either.

Hand priming, setting the decapper pin up on the sizer die, made life easier with the Pro 1000.

I had a burr in the primer chute that I filed down and that helped with primer feed. But hand priming is much less problematic.

Lee Pro 1000

Went to Lee site, and looked at the manual, and the two manuals that came with it and looked at the online parts sheet. This V-shaped spring does not show up.

Will just have to call LEE.
