Ok, I did a search of the site for a question I have but came up with over 252 pages to look through. I'm not THAT patient! It's just a quick question that hopefully someone here will be able to answer for me. I am getting a Lee Pro 1000 press set up for 38SPL/.357 mag. I also want to reload 9mm, .45ACP, 7.62X39 and .308 WIN. I found plates for all of the calibers except the .308 WIN. Will the 7.62X39 work with the .308 WIN, or will I need to contact LEE for more info? I had one of these presses in the 80's and was set up for all of the above mentioned cases and more, but that was many many moons ago and I can't remember what plate worked for .308 WIN....sucks getting old! Thanks in advance!

I do know changing primer size is not that simple on the Pro 1000.
So changing from 38 to 45ACP is more that just changing a shell plate. (unless you hand prime).
That press does not have the stroke length for most rifle calibers.

If you go here at look at what calibers the Pro 1000 is sold in, I'm thinking those are the ones that will fit.

Lee lists following calibers that can be loaded on the Pro 1000 with the corresponding shell plate numbers. I think there was a thread where we discussed loading other calibers and maybe they can comment.

    Shell plate for .308

The AP 1000 shell plate for the .308 is the same as the 45 ACP.

    Thanks for the help everyone.
Now you guys have me wondering....I can't remember if I used my single stage press or the progressive on the .308WIN. Alot of water under the bridge since I last pulled the handle! ; ) I do remember that I did all of my de-capping and priming separately from the progressive press so I'd have better control of that step. Nothing worse than a bent primer to gum up the works on a progressive! Guess I'll just have to wait and get everything set up to find out!

The Pro-1000 does not have enough stroke to handle anything taller than .223 or 7.62x39. The .308 will fit the .45 ACP #2 shellplate, but the shellplate will start to turn before the case has cleared the dies.

Soooooooooo, if you disconnect the index rod and hand index, can you then "load" 308?
Or, would it be like cutting sheet metal with scissors?

    just askin'

Tilos: I got bored one day and experimented. Since it did not work in full progressive mode, and I already have a Lee turret press setup with manual index, I didn't bother pursuing it any further on the Pro-1000.
