LEM, DAK, Glock vs. Cocked and Unlocked

    Why are light DAO triggers such LEM, DAK or the Glock trigger safe to carry without a manual safety but Cocked and Unlocked is not?

    Because DAO pistols are not cocked, there is no pent-up spring energy waiting to be expended. You must supply the energy to load up the hammer spring with your finger pulling the trigger.

    With a cocked and unlocked pistol, there is a hammer with a wound-up spring behind it just waiting to fall. A mechanical failure or impact occurs and that spring releases thus causing the hammer to strike.

    Because it teaches you to keep your finger outside the trigger guard until ready to fire.
