After seeing all the videos and photos of the police anti-terrorism units all over NYC, DC and NJ, I was wondering if they make non-LEO versions of those LEO rifles (i.e. without the select-fire option)?

For example: MP5; HK G36; M4; HK 53; etc.

If they do, can you post the make and model of the non-LEO versions?

Any info would be appreciated.

:D  :D

Thanks...

Try the bobcat Weapons, they make an excellent H&K MP5 clone in 9mmP, it the BW5 model.:D

MP5: HK94 (rare, expensive)
G36: SL8-1 (sort of :uhoh: )
M4: AR-15 w/ M4 upper works
HK53: don't think so :(

pipsqueak (and others) - what about that bobcat mp5 clone that tavo mentions?

My cousin (big HK snob) has a Bobcat BW5. It jams about once every 20-30 rounds, he says its the shooter limp shouldering it or the ammo, I'm not so sure. :uhoh:

For a HK53 try Vector: http://www.vectorarms.com/guns/hk_rifles.htm
The first one I got from them had some issues.
When they could not fix it, they gave me another one that runs like a champ.
Great customer service too.

For a G36 you need to get an HK SL8-1 ( no longer imported ) and the conversion kit from Top-Notch:

They can perform the conversion too. Uses AR15 Mags.

I'm very happy with mine:

I did the conversion myself and installed a real G36 barrel.
Waiting for September 14th so I can install the bayonet lug, flash hider and make the stock fold.

Kahrn, sorry to hear the problems your cousin has encountered with his bobcat. I had mine for 8 months and at least I shot trhu it about 3000 rounds with cero (0) malfunction. I used factory H&K high cap mags, and without saying that all H&K accesories work excellent with this weapon. I had mine set up with an ML2 and fixed stock, looking into buying a KAC RAS H&K MP5 soon.

I'd like to see if HK starts making actual semi-auto variants of their auto guns, after the ban dies. The only thing stopping them before the AWB were the numerous importation bans, but since they now have a U.S. plant, they can get around those. Should be interesting to see.
