Less than 60 days to a major election and no panic buying. I'm Surprised!

I’m broke from 2016 & 2020 panic buying! and full of stuff I don’t even use.

But I do need more .22 LR bulk, Walmart, here I come

& Large Pistol Primers

My own personal anecdotal experience:
I've been in 4 different retail stores that sell firearms and ammo in the last 24 hours. I was the only customer in all but one. Customer #2 at the local mom n pop shop was there picking up a can he'd paid for a couple months ago. The $50 in bullets I picked up was the 3rd actual sale yesterday in the first 7 hours they were open.

2 of the other places were a Rural King and a Dunham's Sports, neither of which bothered to have an employee working the gun counter.

I sometimes wonder if folks are finally figuring out that the sky isn't falling, nor is it overly likely to.
The Sky will fall again. But having enough stuff to shoot you thur the lean times is a OG move. Dude’s like @GeoDudeFlorida don’t even sweat during panics

Yeah, I try to leave the panicking to all the people with bad timing and short memories. I'll be fine regardless of the next couple of elections.

If the female wins on the 5th panic buying commences on the 6th.
Not being proactive in advance leads to panic after.
Its like someone saying they live in a "good area" so they don't carry; but, if something happens, then its OMG I can't believe that happened here now I'm gonna carry.
Panic is generally reactive.

Got this today in a trade:

That +$700 for my Swiss K31 and 250rnds of surplus still in the wrap.

I have enough to last me for a very, very long time.

BTW: after inflation the rifle and ammunition cost me about $300 in today’s money so a clear profit has been made. Bottom line, the total cost of the powder and primers shown is FREE! 😁👍

I'm truly surprised that people aren't panic buying guns, mags, and ammo right now. Since the economy really is in a dump due to inflation and stagnant wages plus the fact that in a four-year timespan, 22-million Americans became first-time gun buyers. I guess the market is just tapped out. Heck, you had people literally buy everything off the shelves back in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic and the Summer of Love.

Talking to my FFL contacts, all the distributors that they do business with are stuffed to the gills with product at the moment. Ammo, guns, mags, parts, etc... They're all trying to unload merch on the FFLs and the FFLs aren't buying because no one is buying from them. Stuff isn't moving at the moment.

Me, I'm stocked. I've been buying it cheap and stacking it deep since the early '00s. Even before the Clinton AWB expired, I was already buying stuff. Literally the only thing I've recently purchased have been revolvers and just a few mags. Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore had some LE surplus GLOCK mags on sale. But of course, the ones I ordered are fifty-state legal. 10rd GLOCK 30 and 9rd GLOCK 27 mags. I only ordered them because they were both under $15 a pop. Simply couldn't let a deal like that be passed up. I only have four mags for both my GLOCK 30 and GLOCK 27 anyways. So, having a few more ain't a bad thing.

But in terms of wanting another case of ammo, more 30rd AR mags, another AK, etc.... nah, I'm good.

Only thing I'm lusting after is a S&W Model 4516 and that's a compact 7rd .45 ACP pistol. Again, nothing that folks would panic buy right now.

Any of you have a must-have purchase before the elections?
I panicked in 2016.

All stocked up now.

It's a bonanza!

No, 9.99 is not a great price for 9mm. The last 9mm I bought (on-line by the way) was 15 cents a round for 115 grain and 17 cents a round for 124 grain and shipping was free for 1000 round buys. Same ammo today from same place is 26 cents a round and has been that for at least a year or more. I call that "not going down." I see some unknown brands for cheapest is 21.5 cents a round. I don't go around shopping for ammo at a bunch of gun shops somewhere. You can spend a lot of money driving your car around looking for ammo.
The key words being "same ammo today from the same place". That said, they're gouging you, but kudos to them for at least free shipping on bulk.
I get it, for sure. Welcome to Bidenomics champ. 21.7 cents a round seems like a pretty good deal compared to 26 cents a round, and that's for stuff like Norma, Federal, Blazer(brass)etc.
There's a bunch a reasons I'm a handloader, and cost is one of them. But even 26 cents per would keep me from another die set. That's about what it would cost me to load it at "todays" component prices

you should have seen Seattle back in 2020 when it was literally burning down and my anti-gun friend were asking about guns. I referred them to the local shops because we have Universal Background Check! “No you can’t just buy a gun in 1 day” 😂

Anyways, they forgot quick and voted for more!

Not panicking, but....
Traded a P85 and some cash for a Tisas GI 1911 a couple days ago. Waiting for it to come in.
Bought one thousand rounds each of 45ACP and 9MM several years ago, think Trump was in charge. Still working on those stockpiles, sorta. The 45 I usually buy 100 rounds to shoot up so little or no depletion there. Need to get another 9MM but that can wait. Probably buy something used.
Got three Mosins and 1800 rounds. That'll be a problem for my estate executor :neener:

There's not much better feeling than buying stuff with someone else's money.
Well, the owner of the shop is practically family so we both walked away really happy about the deal. I did leave one pound of Unique and one pound of Bullseye on the shelf for someone else. After we shook I noticed two pounds of Power Pistol hiding in the back and kinda regretted not asking for one of them too but, I really don’t need it.

Part of the secret to all of this is to develop good relationships with your local sellers. And don’t be afraid to buy at top dollar. If you want it, get it and be grateful for the opportunity. Opportunity costs are real.

I have just been building-up a reasonable quantity (200-500 rounds) of 2024 production ammo in primary calibers that will go into long-term storage in a climate controlled part of the house. If we end-up breaking into those caches, things are bad. Since I started hoarding ammo at age 12, I have plenty of other stock to last for a long time. Hopefully, the new stuff goes to my grandkids in roughly a half-century...

I am not buying guns because I have enough. In fact I am seriously considering doing some reductions in force with my firearms assortment. At my age I worry that my executor will not know how to deal with them.

On the other hand, there is never enough ammo

I can't respond to this topic properly without going off on a political rant which is a no no here so I'll just say I am good to go on THR related stuff for the most part, been using the year to instead get medical and dental stuff done, keep the car in good running shape, bought a good supply of freeze dried and long term canned storage food, have invested some of my savings into gold and silver (gold has risen so much won't anymore for now), got any survival gear need completed, got fishing gear situated, paid off the credit cards, been doing push ups and some walking so I'm somewhat physically able, because the future financial, mental and physical state of the U.S.A is in deep question

I use to be one of those that had three days of food in my place , 2021 woke me up

My wife used to never have more than enough EDIBLE food in the house for a day or so, and I say edible because other members in the household who no longer live here used to RUIN edible food at an alarming rate. When called on it, those persons would just shrug and say "Sorry, gimme something to eat."
They aren't welcome to stay here anymore.

Not horde, "prepare accordingly"; crazy cat ladies horde! We just "prepare accordingly". :D
I bet you keep your used primer tray incase we find a use for them! 😂

I’m stocking up a little more than normal, I have been taking advantage of the sales some of these places have been running I just bought 5000 Unis Ginex SP primers from Grafs for $ 269.00 and they had Free Shipping and Free Haz Mat it might still be going on . I also bought 2000 Berrys .355 115 grain HBRN TP several weeks ago for 7 cents each they are Blemished but I don’t know why the shoot wonderful . I then bought 1000 Armscor .355 FMJ 125 grain from Powder Valley at $39.95 per 500 they shoot well also , now if powder would just come down in price I would be happy.
