I am waiting to get my Yugo M70AB1 back from the smith who is installing a side rail. I have a side mount from kalinkaoptics.com here and am waiting on delivery of an aimpoint clone ( http://www.airsoftvanguard.com/files/full/528_1 )

This set-up isn't etched in stone so I am curious what others use, how they like them and what it looks like mounted.

BTW, as for the AK iron sights, I think they are good for back up but anything less than a nice bright day at the range and I have a hard time using them.

Did this one just a bit ago. Rework of my old MAK-90. Somehow it shot better after it. Groups went from 10-12 inches at 100M to 3-4. Don't ask me how.

The first two pictures are of my Romanian SAR-1 with a KOBRA. The third picture is of the reticule choices on the KOBRA.

Romanian SAR3. I actually never liked this optic. Switched to an Ultimak tube and wouldn't go back.

Arsenal SLR106FR with modified BP-02 mount and PK-23 optic, both from Tantal.

Details on thee modification here: http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=56&t=99362

It's much lower than the stock PK-23 or any other Russian optic I've seen. It is not low enough to co-witness with the iron sights. BSW

The reticles are actually red, but look a little white in the photos because they washed out the camera's CCD in the low light:

Tromix Saiga .223 with Ultimak rail and Aimpoint CompC3. My favorite rifle. I made some adjustments to it myself, adding the hand guard, handguard retainer plate, new rail gas tube, galil pistol grip and smoothing out the Tapco G2 trigger. The Aimpoint will co-witness with irons just fine. This thing is the tits.

I'm happy with both these rifles. The Saiga is definitely a very nice shooter. It shoots 55gr, 62gr all the same, about 2-3 MOA. The SLR-106 is very nice as well. The PK-AS-V isn't as clear as American optics but it's definitely good enough to do some precision work. The rock solidness of the optics as well as the black dot (when no red dot is on) are very nice. There is no cheek weld with a PK-AS-V but you don't really need it. The SLR-106 definitely likes 62gr and NOT 55gr, however. Both have Blue Force Gear - Vicker's slings on them. The Vickers slings are the bees knees for carbines.

No pics at the moment, but I found the irons on my WASR very difficult to work with. I bought a PK-AS red-dot from Tantal to mount on the side rail and I have been very happy with it.
