Oh no DubbleA, I have been anxiously awaiting the Coopers! He was just jesting.

I am so happy that you guys with finances in order have such great taste in firearms. Otherwise, I'd have no exposure, and wouldn't be saving for my first Cooper now.:D

Those groups with the Saber are nice. Were you shooting about as fast as the 500 yard 308 video, or did you let it rest between groups?

Pic of rifle with Vortex Razor and brake fitted. I'm still waiting on my form 4 to clear for the Arbiter. Turns out the 6.5x47 can hunt more than steel. Took two pigs over the past month, one at 490 and the other at 100. Rifle is a Stiller Tac30 lefty, shilen remington varmint profile ultramatch 8 twist barrel cut to 22 inches, huber two stage trigger, manners t4 stock, badger m5 bottom metal, 20 moa rail, seekins 35mm rings, and it usually wears a accu-shot atlas bipod.

Does pretty good when the trigger puller does his part.

Here's a photo of my "tack driver" taken today. I weighed the rifle as shown in the photo and it's 16lb-12oz which is plenty safe for F-Class Target Rifle (F-TR) which has an 18.18 lb weight limit. It's an excellent rifle but I'm still trying to get the SD of my reloads into single digit territory. Here are four 5-shot groups and one 9-shot group shot today. I'm pleased with the 9-shot group. I shoot prone off the bipod with a rear bag. I chronographed every round but haven't processed the data yet.

otrman love that HG.
Do ya mind sharin' How much it was an where ya got it?

I'm gonna guess HG=hand guard. I like it a lot too. It is from Yankee Hill Machine. I think they are around 160.00. So far its been great. No problems with loosing or rotating. Got about 700 rds. on it so far.

Zak, I'm surprised to see you post three shot groups. I thought someone as reputable a yourself would only shoot five shot groups. What's up?

I guess that is the only thing a guy like that could come up with to criticize that great shooting.

Dang it! This thread keeps coming up, and I wanna play...but my wife loaned our camera to her school for two weeks! Well, I can't post a picture, but I am tinkering with handloads for my favorite tack-driver at this point, and set-up as follows:

Rifle is:
M700 Police .308 Win
KF G-Force 20 MOA rail
Nightforce 30 mm rings
Nightforce 12-42X56 NP-1RR scope
B&C Adjustable Tactical stock
Timney BR 4 ounce trigger
Load is:
Lapua brass
Lapua 155 gr scenar
47.2 grains Varget
Federal 210M primer

Dang, 42X is a lot of magnification. At 32X, I can look at a scratchin' dog at 500 yards and tell ya if what's ailin' it is a tick of a flea. At 42X I can tell ya if the pest is male or female. :p

here is the first five shot group of handloads i've ever made for my 700p, shot from a bipod and a field jacket. had i not tossed the one round i'd be ultraproud.

incredible rifles guys. this thread is great, constant reminder for me to keep saving and keep practicing.

Reading this and other forums you would think that current Remingtons are junk.

This my example of what a M700 SPSV in 308 win with the crappy plastic stock off a bipod and middle of the round handloads. These were shots number 4 through 12 that were ever fired from this new rifle. The first 3 shots were to get a 100 yard zero. No break in:rolleyes:, no black magic:uhoh:, just three different loads thrown together using 168gr,175gr and 155gr SMK's. Though only 3 shot groups, it's a great representation,it's gone on to better shooting with taylored handloads.

Current Remingtons tend to be hit or miss (though some, like the 770 are all misses IMO)...from the looks of it you got one of the good ones, but that doesn't mean that all are.

:)

Hmm. Not too many pictures on hand. How about this. I never thought Mausers could shoot. This one does. (I know, it's cheating, 3 shot group. :neener:)

McMillan A2, Ion Bond coated action, action trued, PacNor medium contour, caliber 6.5-284 1:9 twist.

This one was shooting the Berger 130s.

700's 5 shot group today was .491. just by reloading i cut my average group nearly in half. good to know it wasnt all me.

stock cz 527 in 223, with a Tasco Varmint 6x24 uptop.
these targets shot with sanbag rests front and rear,
100yds.
the winny 45 grain varmints were almost all 1 hole shots, followed closely by
the black hills groups.

Did do a couple of molyfusion jobs to the bore, though. But as far as I can
tell, it didn't make it shoot any better, just a total breeze to clean;
supposedly does help accuracy in the long run though.

Here is my "tack driver." I built it just to see if it would work, she aint perfect but she's mine. It is a 1943 Russian Mosin that I put a zb-59 machine gun barrel on. I spliced in a psl stock, fiberglassed, and put alumahyde on everything. The face of the receiver was trued, I lapped the lugs, and pillar bed. Scope mount is a rock solid, and scope is a nikkon buckmaster 6-18. Total price in the project is about 150 not including scope.

and a 5 shot group from 200yds with surplus Russian light ball ammo. I still want to work up some handloads.

I recently bought a Savage FCP-K and added a Choate Custom Tactical Stock.

I have a cheap optic on it but if I decide to keep it I will invest in some serious glass.

I shot it yesterday and had an issue with the Accutrigger locking up so I have to resolve that before I do some measured shooting.
