I could use some quick review so I can get this email sent to Armalite with regards to their recent decisions about selling in NY and other anti-rights locations.

Re: Armalite decision with regards to NY and other locations.

Mr. Westrom;
The decision of ArmaLIte with regards to continuing to support sales to a "special group" (in this case individual police officers) in states that refuse to recognize the rights of citizens is very troubling and has strong implications for the future.

In doing so Armalite is further promoting the notion that law enforcement is somehow an "elite group" who should not subject to the same rules as the rest of the citizens of a State/Local/Area; a notion that has seen enormous and unsettling "creep" since the days I was involved with LE organizations. This also serves to widen the chasm felt between an increasingly "militarized" police and the average citizen.

Additionally, Armalite is significantly weakening the potential impact with regards to Legislators in these anti-rights states. Please consider these two scenarios;

In the first one both police and non-police citizens are equally impacted by the predations of Legislators on our civil rights. Unable to obtain preferred equipment, grumbling and outright protest rapidly start making their way up the LEO chain. LEO and non-LEO citizens band together to end this foolishness.

In the second scenario law enforcement is exempted and they look at the ordinary citizens and say "yeah that sucks" while they obtain their rifles and go on with their jobs and lives. Politicians look around and feel free to ignore non-LEO citizens because they are secure behind equipped LEO protection.

Which do you think will get the politician's attention?

I understand your desire to avoid risking the lives of LEOs but at this point we are talking about risk being forced on ALL citizens and I consider it morally indefensible to place higher importance on one group than the other.

In closing, I respect ArmaLite's right to set their own company policies but I am dismayed at the implications inherent in your decision and hope you will reconsider and cease all sales to anti-rights locations. In the interim I will no longer consider the purchase of any ArmaLite products.

Sincerely
Mr. Zespectre

Your points are logical, valid and defensible. I would only suggest editing to get it to fit on 1 page. It will have a better chance of being read and acknowledged if it is concise & to the point.

Here is my proposed edited copy. Just suggestions.

Mr. Westrom;
The decision of ArmaLite to continue selling firearms to a "special group" (in this case individual police officers) in states that refuse to recognize the rights of citizens is very troubling and has strong implications for the future.

This policy further promotes the notion that law enforcement is somehow an "elite group" who should not be subject to the same rules as the rest of the citizens of a State/Local/Area; a notion that has seen enormous and unsettling "creep" since the days I was involved with LE organizations. This also serves to widen the chasm felt between an increasingly "militarized" police and the average citizen.

Additionally, ArmaLite is significantly weakening the potential impact to anti-gun Legislators in these restrictive states. Please consider these two scenarios:

Both police and non-police citizens are equally impacted by the predations of Legislators on our civil rights. Unable to obtain preferred equipment, grumbling and outright protest rapidly start making their way up the LEO chain. The result is LEO and non-LEO citizens banding together to repeal this discriminatory legislation.

In the second scenario law enforcement is exempt and they look at the ordinary citizens and say "yeah that sucks" while they obtain their rifles and go on with their jobs and lives. Politicians look around and feel free to ignore non-LEO citizens because they are secure behind equipped LEO protection.

Which do you think will get the politician's attention?

I understand your desire to avoid risking the lives of LEOs but at this point we are talking about risk being forced on ALL citizens. I consider it morally indefensible to place a higher importance on the lives of one group of citizens over the other.

In closing, I respect ArmaLite's right to set their own company policies but I am dismayed at the implications inherent in your decision and hope you will reconsider and cease all sales to anti-rights locations. In the interim I will no longer consider the purchase of any ArmaLite products.

Sincerely
Mr. Zespectre
