Congressman Barton, My name is John xxxx. I am a 31 year old white male that has grown up with firearms as a premier hobby in my family.

I am writing you today to let you know that I will not support any elected official that deems it necessary to rethink anything contained within the United States Constitution.

More about what I'm writing you about are the Bills that are surely to be introduced in the near future regarding firearms and gun control. There are already many laws on the books that pertain to gun control, but aren't enforced in a good way.

I agree that there have to be laws in place to prevent similar occurrences, such as the recent tragedies. Those tragedies, however; were committed with several laws in place being broken by the criminals that committed these crimes. They did not follow the laws that were already in place, and I can't see as how new laws would have helped, other than to deter legal firearms owners from purchasing new firearms. There is no logic to adding more gun legislation when the the only people new laws affect are the people that follow the law.

These are my thoughts, and I've been a supporter of yours ever since I was old enough to vote. My mother always spoke highly of you, and I will continue to support you.

As I said earlier, I strongly oppose any new laws towards firearms, especially the registering of firearms that are completely legal to own. The Clinton-Era ban did nothing extravagant to lower crime, and I don't see it helping now because mentally ill people have chosen to commit a crime using a the guns as tools.

Hopefully, you will side with gun owners and vote and emphatic, "NO!" to any new firearm legislation.

Thank you for your time
-John xxxx

Possum,

I'd make one change to make it crystal clear that you won't support an AWB in any form instead of saying "deems it necessary to rethink anything contained within the United States Constitution. ". We know what that means, but I treat politicians like they're kids that need to be told "Do X" "Don't do Y". Perhaps, "supports any form of an AWB removing firearms or magazines currently available to voters like me from common retailers".
