I saw that at another site.. My idea of a lever action is a Marlin 336 or a Savage 99..

Chuck Connors doesn't understand it. John Wayne is disgusted by it, and Randolph Scott went running off into the distance with his hair on fire when he saw it ......:barf::what:

Steve McQueen (Josh Randall) would have a hard time making a "Mare's Leg" out of it.

No need for a gas tube, shouldn't need buffer tube either since the lever action mechanism cycles the bolt.

The gentleman who posted the whole development of that over at arfdotcom is a mechanical genius, making it a functional lever action AR. The lever operates the charging handle.

You guys remember the pump AR that came out a few years ago? I like this better but not enough to want one. Cool idea though.

see how short the stroke is on that thing lol

I've played enough video games, and watched enough sci-fi, I'd buy that if I had the cash....just too cool not to lol.

If only it fed from the tube! Very novel approach and I can appreciate the uncluttered mind it takes to tackle that sort of project (my tiny brain has zero space for such ability).

I would think it’s awfully hard to get down on those sights. They sure do look low with such little stock drop. They could work, but I love old Winchester’s too much to find out.

My buddy sent me a picture of this earlier in the week and we immediately started sending him back pictures of Planet of the Apes guns....however after watching the video, that is one cool design! I can't wait to learn more.

    More info on Red Ryd-AR

BrickWurX is also responsible for designing many of the custom AR15 lowers that PSA has been selling for the past year or so. IIRC, the Christmas Story lower Red Ryd-AR is based on is one of his designs.

Thanks for the link! It's good to see the creator's photos and comments directly.

I'm guessing the rear of the lever has a link that goes up into the butt stock and uses a hidden mechanism to move the bolt carrier fore and aft? Maybe we'll get to see the guts of it someday. :)

That's pretty much where my mind went.

If I wanted a lever-action with a rotary bolt, I'd just get a Browning BLR. I don't understand this fascination with modifying AR's to everything they aren't. If we are just talking a theoretical or mechanical exercise... kind of like a concept car, etc... I guess.

*Goes upstairs and hugs his Savage 99 and Marlins and tells them it's Halloween... there are scary things out there, but it will be ok.*

Uhhhh....my mind really doesn't know how to wrap around this concept yet.

If anyone ever shows up at the club with one, I'll lose the status of "that strange guy with a pump Remington that takes AR mags".

Ugly and over complicated. Kinda Rube Goldberg. Not a fan.
