Carry it . Ky gun friendly . No guns sign mean nothing. If they notice all they can do is ask you to leave. If you refuse then theirs a possible problem . I wouldn't be in downtown Lexington unarmed period . I left their 9 years ago be cause of the big city taxes crime and traffic. I used to work 3rd shift downtown was always armed . Now I live a peaceful life in country

KY is pro carry. I believe they have reciprocity with other states that honor their permit. Http://www.gunlaws.com is a good bookmark to have.

C'mon now, Michael. Roughly 40% of Lexington's pop has a BS degree or higher...and the metro area houses fewer than 1 million people. Actually, it's closer to half a million.
Let's be realistic here. Lexington is not as safe as rural Scott co, no, but it's not exactly the little new york city you make it out to be. I take offense to that, sir.
Are we sure you didn't once live in Louisville? B/c then your statement would actually have merit.

I lived in the "ghetto" of Lexington for a while. In fact, I still have a house there. I really wasn't that worried about violence directed towards me, despite many people telling me I lived in a bad neighborhood. In reality, most of my neighbors weren't "bad" at all. And the ones that were, well, they had it out for other "bad" people, not for me. More often it's gang-on-gang crime or one drug dealer assaulting another.
That said, there are occasionally muggings and the sort in Lexington. More often right around the university. But you never know when you're going to be the victim of a crime like that, so it's better to be safe than sorry.
In that context, I think the previous answers tell you everything you need to know. Concealed means concealed. The worst that can happen if you're "caught" by management is that they can ask you to leave. It's not a crime unless they ask you to leave and you refuse--at which point it's trespassing.
So you're good to go, as long as Kentucky and Ohio have reciprocity. (Which I haven't looked up.)

The best strategy for staying safe in downtown Lexington late at night is to get out of downtown Lexington as quickly as possible. Minimize the distance you will have to go to get to your car or inside a safe place. If you're staying overnight downtown, stay in the better hotels there (Hyatt or the Rad) or if you have more time to kill someplace up Nicholasville or Harrodsburg roads in the South end.

Lexington is very safe, but some of the roughest parts are around downtown. The opera house is just off broadway, and very near where I went to college, and that area is pretty heavily patrolled. As always, be aware of your surroundings, but don't let folks here scare you about that part of town. It's no more dangerous than any other spot in town.
I can't speak for policies at the Opera House, but in Kentucky, the prohibition against concealed carry on private property is considered a "policy", and does not carry weight of law UNLESS the property owner or staff ask you to leave. You then must leave, or you will be guilty of trespassing and charged under that statute. It is prohibited by law in some areas, like courthouses.
As a side note, I do not "walk past" NO GUNS signs in Kentucky because I respect the rights of private property owners to control their property. If I disagree with their stance, I don't violate their intrinsic rights, I just refuse to give them my money.
