Lgs has powder and primers on shelf over a week

I’ve noticed a similar trend in the “where are the reloading components” thread. Stuff is popping up more frequently and staying available longer. CCI 450s were in stock at Brownell’s this week for several hours.

The more this happens the less likely people will be in a panic to snatch it up

Exactly. I remember about a year ago, somebody has a big powder dump (I think Powder Valley). 2 lb limit. I quickly put 2 lbs of 2 different powders I wanted in my cart. Then, trying to spread out the HazMat fee, I put 6 more lbs in my cart. As I was checking out, both of the 2 powders I really wanted went “Out of Stock.” So I didn’t buy anything.

It’s getting better but other #6 lead shot, I have no needs for rifle, handgun or shotgun that I’ll fill until things get back to “normal” whatever that is.

I paid $32/ pound for Sport Pistol a few weeks ago and did not think much about it. Was at LGS yesterday and nothing in stock. I’m seeing primers online a lot more frequently now.

They’re asking $60/lb but they’ve had varget, h1000 and other very hard to find powders on the shelf for over a week now. They even still had fed gm match small rifle and cci 450 on the shelf over a week.

I’m hearing a lot of folks share similar stories.

could the supply crisis be ending? Or is it only the absurd pricing keeping it on the shelf?

I’m sure ready to burn out some barrels.
I have 2 jugs of Varget and 2 of IMR 4064 that I bought in the last year or so.
The woman at the LGS today offered me $120/lb for them.
She said she could get $150/lb.
Keep in mind I’m in Canada

Ouch. That would be 67 cents of powder for every bang in my little 6.5x47. Add a 12 cent primer and 85 cent match bullet and you’re over $1.64 if brass is free.

by way of comparison I’m shooting powder I paid 11.4 cents per shot for. And primers I paid 3 cents a round for. (Although I did just buy more at 12 cents last week)

Went into Two of the LGS to see if they had any SRP that a Buddy needed

1st stop
CCI 400 $99.99
SPP $99.99
CCI BR4 $170.99
All powders $44-69 a pound

2nd stop
CCI 400 $86.99
CCI SRMP $79.99
CCI BR4 $109.99
Only had about 4-5 different powders $32-39lb

People are still buying all they can at the current high prices. Until that stops there is no chance of prices coming down.

Stores will only charge what the "traffic will bear"!!! Prices are high and I'm going to wait! Guess I'm just to cheap to pay too high a price.

I'll ration my stock since I still have enough components to date. I believe prices will drop, I hope!!!

Once inventory returns and STAYS "in stock", prices will fall next.
The second quote above is the important one.

Supplies have to "Stay In Stock"...ie: not moving off the shelf regularly...for prices to start falling. I think the days of crazy prices for primers ($150+/k) are ending and prices stabilizing. If they can build up stock, the prices will start coming down...I'm thinking 2024

Unfortunately there are new reloaders who do not have old prices to use as a barometer.
I’ve only been in the game for 11 years and still have a few old bottles of Titegroup with $19 (Canadian) price tags on them.
I was also paying $28/1,000 for CCI SRP’s so it stings when you are told $100/1,000
