just about every evening I get to go out sit on a nice hill with a good view of 4 pastures, sit there and drink my cold beer, and and have a least one or 2 shots at hogs or coyotes...take my 2 favorite rifles and sometimes get a 400 yard shot and nail em...cant wait to do it again tomorrow...so many pigs and coyotes...so little time...;)

Patriot, whenever I can get away and have a little extra travel expenses (this economy sucks) Have me a pitcher of Koolaid (I quit drinking 16 years ago) and a lawn chair waiting! Ill bring the 7mm.08, the .220swift (for them 400 yard yotes), and the new shoulder mounted howitzer (450NE Ruger #1) and we will have a good old time!

hey Texas I have a new toy (I should have it soon) its a TC encore in 7-08 I would love to try it out on some distance shooting. Ive shot rockchuck's with my 7-30 out to 250 to 300 yds so shooting at pigs or a coyotes shouldnt be much different. Im just up the road in Belton I woul love to try a long shot with my new encore pistol..pm me if interested I will bring the beer.

Freedom nothing like shooting long shots with a pistol.. I started 2 or 3 years ago and love it you have to do everything right to make it happen its the cloest thing to shooting a bow that ive found.

Flip, I've been hunting with hand cannons for 30+ years. Love it too. One of them I don't have to get in bow range. I see a pig at 120 yards you can get the smoker ready for the meat because the piggy will be down. .500 S&W with the 8+ inch barrel topped off with a Nikon Encore pistol scope. The .44 mag Super Redhawk has seen many pigs go flop along with several deer as well out to 100 yards (on deer, I limit to 75 on pigs for penetration). Maybe Ill bring the .500 with me too just for giggles!

Freedom I bet the 500 is a hoot to shoot. and your right about the bow range ive used my bow stands for some of my hand cannon hunting for that I like my SBH in 44mag with a240grn hard cast with a personal touch. for my distance shooting I have 5 differant barrels for my tender. I have now just added a 7-08 encore to the stable.

Let me know how that 7mm.08 shoots Flip. I have been wondering myself how it would perform out of a 14 inch barrel (I am assuming you got it in 14 inch for the Encore pistol)

Both the .500's are a "blast" Flip. I also have one in 4 inch for when I am in Grizzly land. The long one is actually pleasurable for a while. The 4" not so much. After a couple of wheels my hand starts to let me know about it with the mini howitzer :( But I just shoot it enough to be familiar and proficient out to 25 yards in case old Yogi decides he wants to snack on my innards. Practice more quick draw and target acquisition with that. Plus my left buttcheek hurts after a couple of shots (Its where I carry my wallet) But hell thats pretty much all of them nowadays.

Man I just thought of something Flip. What if I get pulled over on the way down there :scrutiny: Smokie is gonna think I am trafficking weapons :what:

LOL you had better come up with something good to say.. I dont think the wedding or the funral story will work.. The barrel for the 7-08 is 15" and from what ive found out on them the 08 is a great cal for the encore pistol im going to find out.

went out and sat on the hill again tonite, swilled a few beers, saw bunches of pigs, took down a big boar and a stupid sow waited around and watched him die, she went down with a good solid head shot....both went down to my cheapo Stevens 200, 7mm-08 with 139 grain Hornady SSTs, I love my cheap tackdriver!! I had a nice Sako and a Ruger #1 with me too, but I went to my cheap date....will do it again tomorrow....so many pigs...so little time...
