Light Strike

I have a Steyr 40c. It has 700 trouble free rounds. Today the first time I pulled the trigger I had a light primer strike. The gun was in battery and had been in a holster for about a month. The primer was struck lightly at the 6 O'Clock position. The round fired when re-chambered. I then fired another 100 rounds without issue. Any ideas?

I had the same issue with my Shield 9mm. There was an accumulation of oil, burnt powder and dirt in the striker channel. I pulled the striker, cleaned everything, very lightly lubricated and reassembled. Problem solved. It could be as simple as a brass shaving or a few grains of sand.

I agree, check the striker and channel. Clean and test again.

After you do that and it is still acting up it could be something is up with the pin position itself.

Primers should be struck pretty close to center, not 6 o' clock.

I'd be more concerned about the position of the strike and the light strike...it could have been something as simple as a high primer

Do the rounds that fired on the first try exhibit a differently positioned mark where the primer was struck?
