They look and feel great. Will have a better opinion after spending time with it at the range. How do you feel about the Bear Hug grips? I like the looks and have considered buying a couple of sets for my Smiths.
It’s a 629 with a couple special features. It’s going to be just as robust as any other 629. The main features are the removal of the lock, the lightweight barrel profile and the nice custom grips. How does the new mountain guns compare to the old? I am NOT asking about the cliche finish, MIM, and hand fitted old vs new debate. I'm asking about as far as robustness and design features proprietary to the S&W mountain guns.
I was under the impression that S&W "Mountain" Guns were bulked in certain areas or something. I guess they just have thinner lighter barrels? The Mountain Gun is 39oz and the standard 629 is 42.8 oz. I thought there was a bigger difference and reason why the Mountain Guns were popular. It’s a 629 with a couple special features. The front of the cylinders were rounded on the Original Mountain Revolver of 1989. I have one and it is superb . Every bit as good as the pinned and recessed 629 no dash 6" I gave to my son.I was under the impression that S&W "Mountain" Guns were bulked in certain areas or something.
