10 round magazine limit just got released : / (presumably to the full legislature for vote, i guess is how this works?)

And from the wording of the text of the bill on the site, it looks like 22s with fixed tubes don't get exempted.

EDIT: Did some research, http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/legislativepub/legprocess.asp

Here's where we are at:

5. Committee Action
When scheduled by the chair, the committee considers the bill at a meeting open to the public. The committee may report the bill to the House as is, with amendments, or by a substitute bill. If not considered or reported, the bill remains in committee.

Remaining Steps that we can still STOP this at:

Third Reading
When scheduled by the President or Speaker, the bill is given a third reading and considered on the floor. The bill may not go through the second and third reading on the same day, except by an emergency vote of 3/4 of the members (30 votes in the Senate, 60 in the Assembly).

House Vote
The bill passes when approved by a majority of the authorized members (21 votes in the Senate, 41 in the Assembly) and is sent to the other House. If a final vote is not taken, the bill may be considered at another time or may be returned to a committee by a vote of the House.

Governor's Action
After final passage, the bill is sent to the Governor. The Governor may sign it, conditionally veto it (returning it for changes) or veto it absolutely. The Governor may veto single line items of appropriation bills. Bill passed in the last 10 days of a 2-year session may be "pocket vetoed."

Law
A bill becomes law upon the Governor's signature or after 45 days if no action is taken. If the House of origin is in recess on the 45th day, the time is extended until it reconvenes. (Different rules apply to bills passed during the last 45 days of a two-year session.) If vetoed, a bill may become law if the Legislature overrides the veto by a 2/3 vote. A law takes effect on the day specified in its text or, if unspecified, the next July 4th.

I watched the NY assembly, and I listened to this while working today.

I have to say that after both, I feel pretty hopeless.

The reps don't care. They all know how they're going to vote, and the best anyone can do is to maybe get some sort of amendment to clarify an issue in the bill. There were over 300 people in attendance, 99% of which were against these bills. It didn't matter. I've written my reps over and over. I'll never change their minds. The few who agree with me already do. The ones who don't agree never will.

The power in NY and NJ comes from the population density in the cities. They have 5% of the land and 85% of the population. Thus, the votes reflect the views of the cities, and we in the country are screwed time and time again.

I belong to private clubs, I'm a life member of the NRA, I donate to NRA-ILA, I mail and call my reps. I've spent over $500 in the past six months alone just in RKBA endeavors.

I watch and listen to legislators who basically stand there because they have to, "listening" to the people speak, all the while knowing that they're going to vote a certain way anyway.

In todays proceedings, at one point they told the crowd that since there were so many people to listen to, that they would let them speak after the vote. ***? It was only after complaints that they decided to let people speak before the vote. Guess what - the people speaking didn't matter.

Sorry to vent, but I am utterly frustrated. I wish I drank, because I could sure use one about now.

I was only able to take in a few minutes of testimony, but one witness speaking around 5pm EST was brilliant. He indicated that he moved to the US from a communist nation. If anyone has an audio clip of his testimony, I think it would be worth sharing.

robhof

I didn't get the transfer info, but look for a video of Bill Stevens, a father of one of the survivors of Newtown, he's progun and was very vocal against the president's plan, of course the major news outlets treated him like cancer.:cuss::cuss:

Must be something in the water in the extreme North East and on the West Coast.

He was great. He said something to the effect that he was from a communist country. He went on to say that some had called the assemblymen communists, and he knew that they weren't because communists try harder to make the people believe that they care about them.

I liked the guy earlier on, maybe around 3:30 PM (i listened between meetings while at work, and at home later in the day) who while speaking referenced Governor Cuomo (NY) and his comment that nobody needs a large magazine to hunt deer, and said "A deer never broke into a home and attacked somebody"

I agree with the posters above. I too was at the 2nd Amendment Rally on the 8th. I have written over 20 emails, and more than a dozen hand-written letters (including personal correspondence with Joseph Cryan, definitely an Anti but he responds to my emails at 10 PM on Sat nights via his ipad...still couldn't convince him though). There were HUNDREDS of supporters there today and it seems like not a single vote was swayed.

Right now, my hope is to buy the guns I "need" for the summer before anything becomes enforced law, and move as soon as I can after my wedding in the fall. I can't even register for the newly announced Appleseeds because I don't know how to adjust my gun purchase list for any potential legislation, and who knows what grandfather clauses will or won't be included.

KCGUNESQ - "I was only able to take in a few minutes of testimony, but one witness speaking around 5pm EST was brilliant. He indicated that he moved to the US from a communist nation."

His misfortune was moving from a communist country to a communist State.

Again with bashing the northeast. Vermont isn't bad yet and Maine and New Hampshire are pretty good too. Also to note us Vermonters are fighting pretty good the twenty third we have another protest at the state capital. no new laws have passed yet and we do not mean any to.

The very definition of a tyrannical state. The time for talking is almost over.

Yep. That''s the one. I knew I wouldn't paraphrase it well.

Any gun owner who voted for these guys deserves to be disarmed and 10 lashed for each vote.

Showing up with a sign and a handgun on your belt does wonders to change their attitude. We do that here in Virginia. It works wonders.

Oh, that's right, you live in an anti-rights state and are prohibited from carry. Perhaps it's time to stop asking and start demanding?
