I have 45LC dies and a friend want to load some 454 Casull. Can you load 454 Casull using 45LC dies? Your help would be appreciated.

Dan

Should be able to, the only diffrence would be that your dies would be a bit farther out in relation to the shellholder when loading 454
Me I load .357 maximum with 357 magnum dies

Several Die manufacturers make different dies for the 45 and 454.
If you look at the cartridge drawings in some loading manuals you will see there is slight differences.
When I owned a 454 I used 45 dies and it worked just fine for me

IIRC, the brass on .454 is longer, which means you may not resize all the way down to the rim. May or may not be a problem. I reload for a friends .454 with my .45 LC dies also.

I load 454 Casull on my Dillon 550 with 45LC Dillon Dies and have no problems what so ever. Of course I do have to adjust my expander, seating, and crimping die adjustments and load ammo just as nice as factory stuff and hopefully a little more accurate.

I talked to RCBS and Freedom Arms about this a few years ago. I don't remember the details (sorry), but both gave me a clear word: you can load .45 Colt with the .454C dies, but not the othe way around. Actually, RCBS told me that due to the difference in the crimp (IIRC), to load both you needed a .454C die set and a .45 Colt die (seater/crimp die, IIRC). Sorry not to have more details, but I would recommend you talk to RCBS tech support tomorrow so you get correct info.
