I haven't found much.
Alliant's response was emphatic to not reduce the max by 15% for 240 gr jhp.
Montana Gold doesn't provide load data.
So is reducing what alliant provides for 240 gr jhp the most sensible starting point?

Another yes. IMO, you should be safe using any load data for any jacketed 240 grain projectile, provided you always start at the bottom of the data and work up.

I always start -10% from alliant's max load data and go from there. Were I loading those bullets (which are fantastic by the way) I would take the 11.6 grains from the from the 240grain jhp data and go down 10%. That would give you a starting load of 10.4 grains.

While I know what be86 is and have heard nothing but good things about it, it strikes me that there are much better powder options out there for those bullets. I have loaded a lot of those bullets with both 300mp and blue dot with great results. you will need to come back and post your results.

I concur with what Schwing stated, and on both accounts, in that I wouldn't see a reason to reduce more than 10% and work up.

And on the secondary concurrence, I would pick a more appropriate powder, as there are much better options available for a 240 gr. jacketed bullet in 44 magnum.

I haven't yet treated myself to the 300 MP, but I've heard a lot of favorable reports, and I'm sure it will deliver a good typical magnum experience.

And as far as Blue Dot is concerned, I do believe that was the first powder I ever loaded 44 mag. with, and it wasn't in the least disappointing.

And if you can find H110 / 296, this too would very likely leave you with that ear to ear full house grin.

Enjoy

Not to hijack the thread gamestalker but, as much as I love 300 mp, it has its issues. There is a thread here:

It covers my experience of getting squibs at the low end of the data. It turned out that the hornady data was TOO low but I even had some squibs later on with Alliant's starting data. As long as you go a little above that, it is great powder.

I use this load for xtreme 240gr CPFP, 11.3 grains. I am happy with it in my 44 mag, Redhawk 7.5" barrel. I may drop a grain or two though. Has less flash than some other powders. Haven't really tried anything else yet. May try Unique next if I can't get anymore BE-86.
