I am going to pick up a Lyman 49th but I just ordered some Precision Delta 9mm 124 gr RN FMJ. Can someone give me load data for Win 231 please? Thanks very much!

You won't find load data for 124/125 gr FMJ RN in Lyman #49, just 125 gr JHP.
However, Hodgdon does list load data for 125 gr FMJ which would be fine to use for 124 gr FMJ bullet (most jacketed bullet weight may vary by 1 gr anyways

I load for multiple pistols and use 1.135" OAL but you should determine the OAL that will work reliably with your pistol/barrel.

Thanks bds! A follow-up question. I have Hornady's 9th and was going to get Lymans 49th, but is their another book better that I should get in stead of Lymans?

There are multiple sources for load data on line from the powder manufacturers. WIN/Hogdon, Alliant, Ramshot, Accurate, Vihtavuori, and several more.
Another load data book is LEE's Modern Reloading which has some good load data to use to double check data--biased toward LEE loading equipment, but that doesn't hurt.
Lyman's is an excellent book because it doesn't limit info to one bullet manufacturer--LEE's is the same.

Im real please with the Lyman "pistol & Revolver" third edition hand book,it has many,many loads with different power types for lead ,fmj,ect.....
For 124gr fmj with w-231 Im using 4.1 grs ,works great in my M+P 9c.
try loading 10 rds at 3.8, 4.0,and 4.2 and see what YOUR gun likes! I dont see the need for max loads to punch wholes in paper at 25 feet!

What a coincidence. I just finished loading 300 rounds of the same bullets and powder that you are asking about. I use 4.6 gr of HP-38(same as W231) under a Precision Delta 124 gr FMJ. It is a clean, accurate load that is easy on the gun. It averages just over 1000 fps. With this bullet I have gone as high as 5.1 gr of HP-38 which is max in the Sierra book. I got almost 1200 fps. As far as manuals go, over the years I have tried several. The Sierra manual is the only one that has realistic velocity expectations in it. If a load in their manual says that you will get a certain velocity with a particular bullet/powder combination then that is what you are going to get. The other manuals have unrealistic expectations. I have heard that the Lyman's manuals are good also but I only have their cast bullet book.

You will not find one manual that does it all. There are too many different components out there for an auther to test them all, or the company supporting the manual has an agenda to support their own products.
So, many reloaders have a variety of manuals.
Hodgdon, Alliant, Western Powders (Accurate and Ram Shot) and others, have on line sources.
With experience and knowledge, the reloader learns how to effectively use the available data safely in purchasing and using components.

That pistol/revolver handbook has the same data that's in the Lyman 48th Edition handbook. It's merely a reprint without the rifle data. Both are a good source of information but I think it's better to buy the full book. The new Hornady 9th Edition manual is also a good choice and addition to the reloading library, especially if you shoot Hornady bullets. (and I do)
Same goes for the new Nosler Manual #7. It and the Hornady manual are very new with a 2012 release date.

I have loaded 1K of the PD 124gn FMJ with HP38. The JHP will have a shorter OAL due to the tip of the bullet not being there!
