I know this forum is mostly for traditional guys, but it's still the best place to put a "cheater" (inline) question.

I have this Rossi Youth .45 cal ML - short little thang, which I plan to use this fall for hunting. I got it used but it's in pristine condition. Synthetic black furniture (I know, yuck), and matte nickel. I've never shot it but I like the size and weight of it.

Found an online Rossi ML manual at Steve's pages, and the manual says no more than three 50 gr pellets, and recommends two 50 gr pellets, but that's for .50 cals, and this is a .45 cal.

The manual also says to use Pyrodex pellets only, and no other propellant types, for some reason. Yes, it spefically says use pellets.

In any event, my question is, do you think that two 50 gr pellets in .45 cal (100 gr charge) of Pyrodex will be too much or about right as a starting point. By starting point, I mean, I would go down only, not up, with 100 as the max, but still a good starting point to see if it shoots. Or would you try 80 gr first for this one (1 50 and 1 30)?

Thanks.
