I'm having difficulties with them on 38 special. I might need to put a new one on and try it, but the case is wanting to tilt on me which will cause the sizing die to smash them.

Have loaded several thousand on mine. I'm on my second shellplate spring, and had to adjust indexing once.

Only ongoing problem has been high primers. Largely eliminated that by shimming the sub-plate.

No other mods except for adding a couple wraps of masking tape around the primer tubes near the top where trapped by the plastic primer tube support. That keeps the primer tube from popping up when low on primers.

Otherwise I just check tightness of shellplate bolt and powder measure L-N-L insert in press every hundred or so rounds.

I use mine to load 9mm, 357, 44 Mag, 45 Auto, and 45 Colt.

Slow down and see if that helps first. This is normally due to clearance between the shell plate and base to large. Which could be as simple as the shell plate not tight on the hub. The clearance specked by Hornady is 0.003" to 0.010" with the smaller being better. Hornady and Dillon dies have a larger radius on there sizing die to help on alignment.

One thing that drove me crazy was the powder measure wobbling loose. I got shims for it and have never had a problem since. Can get these free from Hornady. I also use a lock washer for the shell plate, solved the issue with the shell plate working loose.

A grub screw tapped in does that job mate, cheap set of taps and dies job done ..

A couple of really nice additions to the LNL that I've discovered over time are:

1 Dram Worx powder hopper https://dramworx.com/products/hornady/
This is a Pyrex powder hopper which won't melt or stain over time. It has a metal base which screws into the powder measure body and won't loosen to spill powder. It also comes with a powder baffle to help with consistent powder drops

2. Bragging Rights Precision Reloading tools https://www.bragginrightsprecisionr...-w-powder-lock-plate-for-for-hornady-ap-press
a) Primer slide alignment tool. Easy alignment of slide to primer tube for reliable feeding
b) Pawl Adjustment kit. Qualitative method to adjust both pawls, up and down, for correct timing of the shellplate. (I thought mine was correctly adjusted until I got the kit and saw how my timing was off)
c) Powder Drop Locking Plate. Keeps the powder measure from rotating and unlocking during loading

The first time mine did that I just flipped it over and went on. The second time I cut about 1/4" off the ends and reinstlled it with some automotive gasket sealant (RTV). On the next time I called Hornady and they sent me a new hopper. So far this one has not loosened up on me in 10+ yrs.

+1 on the Dram Worx. it screws on and feels solid.
