Does anyone in the Twin Cities area know of a public range where I can work out my rifles? Or perhaps a private range in the north or west or even soutwest metro that is accepting membership applications? Some place with at least a 100 yard range. That isn't asking too much, is it?

I have a DPMS LR-308 that has been sitting in the safe since this past spring because I have no where to really let it shine.

Thanks for your replies.

I know, because I'm member, that the Oakdale Gun Club in Lake Elmo (don't ask), has a 100 yard range and a 200 yard range, along with a 50yd, combo 25/50yd and a covered 25 yard range.
It is open everyday right now 8AM to 4PM CT. This runs until the end of Wisconson deer season (weekend after Thanksgiving). $15 per shooter, as many guns as you can carry in.
Oakdale is located on the east side of the cities, take US 94 east to county 19, turn north till you run into the Lake Elmo Park Reserve, then turn east again, it's just 200 yard ahead on the left (north) side of the road.
To be fair I believe that Forest Lake does also have a 200 yard range, it may even be longer.
I don't know of anyone with a really long, 500+ range in the area.

Check up in Harris Mn. It's up 35 towards Hinkley. I was told that they have up to a 1000yd. But I've never been up there so it's only "what I've been told".
Good luck, be safe..

Be sure to bring along your NRA card. I know that Oakdale gives (or at least use to give) discounts to NRA members.

Dakota County Gun Club is located way SouthEast of the Cities. They have deer rifle sight-in days weekends in October.

The site lists both Saturdays and Sundays, but you might want to e-mail or call the webmaster. I thought the rifle range was closed on Sundays.

The Dakota County Gun Club hosts a public deer rifle sight-in event. The range will be open to the public from 9am until 4:30pm. Our rifle range has backstops at 25, 50, 100, 200, and 300 yards. We provide targets, ear plugs, range officers, instructors, and spotters for a nominal fee of $7.00 per gun/shooter. Youth 16 or under with a DNR Firearm Safety Certificate shoot for free.

harris has a 1000yd range. i think the only one in MN.

elk river sportsmans club 50, 100, 200, 300, and 600 yard ranges. i shoot OTC there.

IMO, one of the best all around ranges in the cities.
