Read everything you can find by David Tubb, he writes an article for Accuracy Secrets every quarter, and I think he has a book out.

Look up a book by Randolf Constantine called something like 'highpower for competition' ... Sorry for no exact title but a Google search will pull it up easy.

Anyway, it has a wealth of info!

taliv's keys to successful long distance shooting

don't drink a 48oz super big gulp of mt dew 30 minutes prior to shooting

do bring a 4-wheeler or other ATV so you don't have to hump a bunch of steel 1000 yrds and back right before/after shooting

don't position your shooting mat, or particularly your muzzle break near fresh cow piles or fire ants

do let the other guy shoot first so you can see what the wind is doing

aim for the flat top and don't cross the streams... no wait, that's not right

Now THAT sounds like the voice of experience.

I would add that if you "drink a 48oz super big gulp of mt dew" on a regular basis, then match day is not a good day to quit. Tried that with coffee. Not so good.
