The 44 mag can be really impressive at long ranges. Years back in my IHMSA day I shot a Ruger 44 mag 101/2" barrel. with a load of 21gr 2400 and a 240 gr bullet, it was very accurate at 200 yards, you could hit the chickens placed out where the rams were.

Can't tell how big the gong is.

In IHMSA silhouette, the 200 meter (220 yd) target requires about a 12" group. On a calm day, and International class shooter will usually hit 3 or 4 out of 5 from standing with a production gun. 5 for 5 isn't all that uncommon.

The guy can shoot, no question.

I used a Ruger NMBH 357, 6.5" to hunt jackrabbits for several years. 158 gr. cast SWC over 14.5 gr. 2400 was good out past 200 yds if I did my part. Great winter sport out in the sage brush and hay fields.

I tried to shoot whistle pigs with my Super Blackhawk the other day at about 100 yards. Got within a foot or so. Gotta get the elevation wired.:D

I like shooting long range. I have done 225 yards at a 24" gong, standing using my Colt SAA 44spl., 4 3/4" barrel and Elmer Keith front sight with horizontal gold lines for elevation. I load 8gr Unique under a 200gr cast bullet. I'm happy if I can hit 2 out of 5.
