Lookin' for a BP pistol

So, I bought my .44 Colt 1860 Army and am pretty happy with it. Now, to complete my "shooting repertoire" (for the moment at least) I need a single-shot blackpowder percussion pistol. But here's my problem:

I don't really want one of these huge, long-barrelled pistols that Dixie Gun sells. I'm really looking for a BP pistol that you would have seen someone carrying stuck in their belt or something, one with a shorter all-around length...almost like these:





Do you know any place that sells these online, or is there anyone on the forum who's wanting to get rid of one (or two even) pistols like these?

You mean like these:

Unfortunately they are not for sale. You might go to the Dixie Gunworks site, I beleave they have the New Oreans Ace, the first pistol in your pics, in a kit form. They may have the Junkar too.

This one, is perfect. Big bore is fun, a 45 derringer is really enjoyable. You need a glass of hot water to clean the barrel.
If you can hold a golf ball, you can hold this pistol.

I bought the top gun as a kit back in the 70's. I still have it but it really isn't usefull for much, no sights and hard to hold onto.

Cobble up a 5-6" barreled under hammer bootleg pistol in .31 or 36.They are light, handy and remarkably accurate.

those Jukars and ardesas are accurate and reasonably priced if you can find them. Dixie gunworks is a great company but anything made by Palmetto Arms Company is a straight road to disappointment.

That 3rd picture is the CVA Colonial Pistol. I built one of those for my Dad about 20 years ago. A good, basic BP pistol.
Also built the CVA Derringer someone else posted. That one was actually harder to build than the Colonial. I've shot the derringer, it works well. Rifle barrel. Still got it.
I also have the large CVA Kentucky pistol. Don't knock it until you've shot one. They are a hoot, and very accurate. If I go back to shooting mine I'll probably invest in an adjustable rear sight.

built one of those myself-colonial. It was a good shooter as was a cva mountain pistol I built up. I recall an old cva derringer we had around and it was head and shoulders above the Lincoln derringer made by Palmetto and priced at $190 in kit form and $500 + as a finished product. The palmettos generally don't work at all

I/ve got a JuKar kentucky flint that works very well and turns in respectable accuracy.
