Looking for 9mm for less than 600 dollars - leaning towards a Glock

Okay, I researched Glocks, and I like what I see.
I looked at the cheaper Glock handguns, namely the Glock 17, 19, 19C, 19X, 43X, and 48.
Out of those, I like the Glock 19X, 43X, and 48 the most.

I also looked at the Glock 34, 45, and 41, but they're a bit too pricey.

Did I miss any Glocks that fit my needs and are about 500 or less?

If you are going to CCW the gun, also consider that aspect of it. I am referring to the dimensions of the guns and your body type. I think a standard G19 and not the G19x or one of the smaller guns is where you want to go. I did not see the G26 on your list. They have have a shorter grip for better concealment, people with smaller hands may be more comfortable with it than those with very big hands.

Thanks, I'll check out the G26.
Which body type are you speaking of?
I already said I'm a man with very large hands.
I'm over six feet tall, and I'm not worried about concealing the gun.
From what I have read, the G19X has better ergonomics than the G19.
If the ergonomics are good, I don't mind getting a more compact handgun.
The size of the handgun doesn't matter that much to me.
I checked out the G26.
I don't think the short grip will work for me.

By Gen 3 the 19 is as ergonomic as most others, though again it pays dividends to have it in-hand to verify. We’ve mentioned the Gen 3 because those have gone through the lab testing and are CA approved. Not sure about the other variants.

I prefer the 17 for sport shooting but the 19 just does so much so well it begs to be looked at. I am not a Glock fan boi or owner, but they have a well deserved reputation and those I have fired have not disappointed.

If it's just for HD and range use, the Glock I would get would be a Model 17. If you have big hands, bigger is better. Longer sight radius and thus more accurate, etc.

The smaller models are for carry or for people with smaller hands. Most of my range guns are full-sized service pistols because they fit my hands better and are easier to shoot well.

Glocks are okay. They're not magical. They go bang. There are worse and better handguns for 99% of the population. It's not a bad choice for a first handgun.

So I think OP has make his pick for his 1st gun!

It’s going to be 9mm 10rd.
Something in black plastic with metal slide
and definitely a striker gun

SO!!!! we Vote a Used Glock 17 o 19!!!

I skimmed through all the suggested options but nobody mentioned SCCY pistols.

If the OP wants to spend less than $400 it is my understanding that SCCY is a relatively new American manufacturer that makes a very high quality 9 mm pistol for significantly less than $400.

I mentioned the SCCY CPX-2 in the OP.
I'm sure it's a great bargain, but I'm looking for something much nicer.
I think I'll be getting a Glock, but I'm not done with my research yet.

Just get a Glock, EVERYONE over 21 and under 45 gets a Glock for gun #1! Gen 3 is for the win because the patents ran out and aftermarket parts everywhere, probably between your couch too

I’m not the kind of fella that puts “nice” and “polymer” in the same sentence as “pistol”.

I don’t own any plastic pistols. Mine are all metal and used for range duty. I don’t carry and don’t even keep one in the night stand. Whenever I decide I need a pistol for defense will probably be the day I purchase my first polymer framed pistol.

If you mentioned it Ellen, forgive me, but what is your intended use for your first pistol? Fun at the range, home defense, concealed carry, a combination of those?

I haven't mentioned it yet.
I plan to carry the handgun, though it won't necessarily be concealed.
It will be for defense and I hope I never have to use it for that.
I will most likely take it to a firing range to get used to the handgun, but I won't be going to the firing range as much as some.

Perfect.

I guess I should have also added, will this be a stand up fight or another bug hunt? ;)

Get the G19. It’s what I would get if I were you

That's funny. :D
If I run into any aliens, I guess it'll be a bug hunt.
I'm not experienced in hand-to-hand combat, so I don't think it'll be a stand-up fight.

Sounds like a good idea, Mark_Mark!
Is your middle initial E.?
This will be my second gun, and I'm 50 years old, though I have shot other people's guns throughout my life.
My first gun was the Mossberg 500 shotgun.
everyone second gun from 21-45 (you’re ahead of your times!) is also a glock!

just give it time and your CA legal Glock will look like this.

then you will get bored and start doing this!!!

Since you're in California, i would get with something that will last a lifetime and be supported for a lifetime.

Glock because of aftermarket parts that you can keep one running infinitely.

Smith& Wesson and Ruger because of general reliability and great customer service.

There's a thread online about a rental range at battlefield Vegas... Basically HK, Glocks, Beretta 92s (your typical military and duty guns) will go tens of thousands of rounds.

So basically, I'd go with common and boring so you know whatever choice you go with, you can keep it going no matter what shenanigans happen in CA

we are getting Shenanigans too here in WA, and I lived in CA for 6 years, So I seen the overall outcome. We are also have a 10 rd mag ban too (t-30 days) So what did I buy??? a box load of MagPul Glock 9mm mags! All the flavors for $12 a pop and I don’t ever like glock.
