I just got rid of a new Browning 725, 32inch barrel 20 gauge O/U because the auto sequencer would not work on light skeet loads. You had to shoot top barrel first unless using hunting loads. For up to same price, what do you recommend for a O/U replacement? I was thinking of spending $1500 to $2500.
Two older gentlemen I shoot with have Browning CSX’s in 20ga and are VERY happy with them. I tried one, and I’m tempted, real sweet! Never spotted them have any issues.

No, I did not know that. I was told the 725 had an inertia trigger and I believed the guy. Too late, the gun is gone. I think I may have to think that one over. Although a CSX isn't a bad idea either I've been talking at the club and no one seems to have a good word for a 725. One guy said he he had same trouble as me. He said he sent it to Browning and they said it was working properly. Go figure.
Shouldered a couple 725’s at the LGS and really liked it but have read reviews pro & con. I’ve never read a bad review on the CX series and like those too, especially the 20gauges I’ve tried at the club. One of them is in my near future and I’m so confused
I prefer my Beretta Silver Pigeon Sporting 20ga. Mine has 30 inch barrels. It's in that price range. You can set a switch to shoot either barrel you choose first.
What Milkmaaster said…I have a 687 Diamond Pigeon with close to 500k through it and shoot with a guy that has a 680 with close to 1 million if not more. Neither gun has had any repairs made to them…they will last your lifetime and probably your great grandkids as well.
I shoot a 28" Beretta 686 Onyx Field gun in 20g, mostly just for Skeet but have in Sporting Clays as well. I did add a Limbsaver recoil pad.
While I like and own a Beretta O/U, they have inertial triggers (rely on recoil to switch over to the next barrel). Thomasss mentioned his problem was that the light loads were not enough to change the barrel over.... A Beretta may not be the best choice for that reason. He should talk to someone at his range or a dealer knowledgeable about the options for a mechanical trigger shotgun. If possible he should try the gun out with the light loads in question.
In shooting clay birds there is an old axiom; either a Browning or a Beretta will fit you, but not both. If they both are in your price range, find a shop that carries both in stock then take the time to look at both. If you shoot at a clays range, ask, someone that has a gun like you want, most guys will let you shoot their gun, to try it, if you are actively shoping. Next time you have any problem with a quality gun, get it looked at and if needed repaired.
Was at the LGS a week ago, it was either a Benelli 828U 20ga or a Berretta silver pigeon 28ga. I was looking for a sweet Italian. The Silver pigeon felt like a junior model shotgun. Very small. Had it been a 20 ga I prolly would have got that and something else like a PPK for the same amount. I got the Benelli. Glad I did.
