Hi all, I am looking for my next new CC firearm. I prefer a .40 or .45, no Glocks need apply just don't favor them. Don't want a micro gun, but not a full size. Thanks and hope ya'll have a Happy New Year!

I'll get my popcorn and drinks ready to watch this thread. Maybe we'll also learn the best pickup truck too. There is just so much out there today it will be a tough choice, I made my choice many years ago and in the 40 S&W area I got a Kahr P40 stainless. It's heavy, but that's not a bad thing when you touch one of those 40's off. I tried a poly frame, but liked the solid steel pistol better. You need to go somewhere you can handle, fondle, and helft a bunch of pistols and see what appeals to you.

Ruger Security 9 or Security 9 Compact. Capacity of to 17 rounds in standard model. And 10 to 15 rounds in compact model. Standard ha 4 inch barrel and compact gas 4.42 inch barrel. I carry the compact. Excellent gun on all points, and better yet economical. If you want a showpiece they are not for toy, but if you want a reliable CCW they are near perfect.

Lots of good choices out there. Here’s one idea:

Oh man, there's some good options...

For practical boring options I'd probably look to Smith n Wesson of some flavor, shield or m&p2.0 compacts.

For classy, a midsized SIG in .40

For a compact .45 though, if you can find a Beretta/Stoeger Cougar or even a new PX4 compact.

Oh, or an HK45c!!!

I carry a shield 9. I got it when they were available for around $300. Its a good pistol for what I use it for. I also accumulated 2 additional mags thanks to a sale PSA had a few years ago, and I have 2 great holsters for it I really like. Would I rather have a Sig 365 or hellcat? Sure. They are also great guns that hold more rounds and are also very useful for CC. But even if I sold my shield and the stuff for top $, I would still come up short on a 365 or hellcat, along with the additional mags and 2 holsters I would want for a 100% changeover in capability. So in this case, what I have is satisfactory. I have a good CC pistol that I shoot well that carries as many rounds as a 1911. Just because there are some things out there that are a little better doesn't make my shield no good.

For 40 or 45, and easy to carry?

The Kahr works for me. I'll get one in 45 when I run across one for a good price. This one is in 40. I've carried it at times. It's a bit spicy to shoot, but plenty accurate.

It's about the size of a Glock 43, maybe? I've had it for a few years and never had any problems with it. It's easier to shoot with the pinky extension grip.

Shield in whatever caliber you prefer. Slim, proven track record, decent size with the extended plate mags.

Kimber Ultra Carry ii in 45 acp. Very manageable with 185-230g loads. Carry’s easily. 1911 platform. What’s not to like.

Best truck…. Ford F-150 of course.

Nah - I like my F350 Supercab 4x4 with the 6.7 diesel better..

On the OP - it's hard to decide, I know. Every time I think I've bought the "perfect" CCW, somebody comes out with a new and better one. My current EDC is a P365, but I also have a Hellcat. I had a Shield .40 but it was pretty snappy and my aging hands didn't like it much so it went away. I have a Kimber Pro TLE II that I love, but for me it's just a bit big to EDC. I'm also thinking of getting an Ultra Carry II or something of that sort. Still mulling it over...

naw! a Prius with 55 mpg!

Well, I like a good 1911, but swore-off anything smaller than full-sized 5” 1911 pistols. A full-sized 1911 is, however, nicely slim, so is “less-full-sized” than many of the wider-body handSguns out there, on the market.

For a smaller .45 auto-pistol, I recently acquired a Glock G30s Short Frame, and then added a G30 Gen4, but Glock having been factored-out by the OP, I might have a look at the .45 ACP version of the Shield, because I know that some real-world folks have throughly tested their .45 Shields.

It’s OK still. Ford. And a Kimber. I would say we agree

SIG P320 45 C if you can find one. It is between the Glock 30 and Glock 21/M&P 45 FS M2.0 in height. I really like mine.

However, HK is excellent and you will not regret getting one. Try a HK USP 45 Compact or HK45 Compact. Both with LEM trigger.

My Colt Commander carries well.
I can't wait to get it back in the holster.
Very accurate but I need to have it looked at by a pro before I carry it again.
