Looking for Small 22lr Pistol Suggestions

Seems no one mentioned the Taurus TUC22, maybe for a good reason...

Also stainless steel...

The TUC looks like the result of if a Tesla Cybertruck and Velociraptor ever had sex.

It's novel that Taurus keeps trying to make their tip up .22's better, but there's no saving this DAO nightmare. Make a DA/SA like Beretta tries on the 21A, but make it actually work. Then scale it up and make a .32 version that also works and doesnt crack frames and slides, unlike the Beretta Tomcat.

Small .22 would be about Beretta bobcat.
Except the two I had trying to like the over sized great 950 , were never reliable enough for me to consider keeping them! Also many others shared my experience with them . Round nose CCI mini mags were the best. Best meaning they got into the chamber from the magazine about 90% of the time.

They are a bit pricy compared to the Buckmarks, but I have really enjoyed my Browning 1911-22. It’s a scaled down 1911 that has been pretty accurate and very reliable over the 1,000-odd rounds I have fired through it.

Just looked this up and saw its only 12 ounces. I was planning to try a Walther P22, but I think this is going to be my next firearm purchase.

Yeah, the choice of octagon barrel with polymer frame and post-modern architecture style is........interesting

I might pick one up when they eventually go on clearance for $89, but their marketing department must've been hitting the crack pipe when they decided on $333.99 MSRP for this abortion in a sea of quality sub-$300 .22 pistols.

They're going for about $250 now, but even at that price it's hard to compete with stuff like the LCP II or even their own .22 revolver because when this has TUC has a DAO trigger that's not much better than a DA revolver and with their own .22 revolver it could be cocked for single action.

If Taurus wants to make tip up pocket pistols, then do them in DA/SA in .22 and .32

Plinking fun with small size and reliability:
Ruger SR22
KelTec P17
Taurus TX22

Small light 22 carry:
Ruger LCP II lite 22
Ruger LCR
Taurus Poly22
H&R 929

See if you can find a Beretta 948. I have one with both the short and long barrels. Just a pleasure to shoot.

Another option on the used market would be a S&W 2213. Based on the 422 pistol. Had a 422 for a few years a long time ago. Nice pistol.

My wife's LCR is, after going back to Ruger for failing to feed EVERYTHING, about as reliable as most .22's and an absolute laser beam, in spite of it's tiny sights.

My vote is for the M&P 22 compact. I’ve had mine for years and shoots anything I’ve tried without any problems.

I happened on this one when shopping at an ACE hardware store. I just had to have it. No research at all, I just WANTED it. Three magazines and $350.00 OTD. Browning .22.JPG

$350? I would have bought it, too. They go for double that where I live.
I found that out later. At the time I had no reference point as far as cost. I had just bought a Sig P322 at around $400.00 so I thought this was a fairly good price. It kind of helps to reconcile with the fact that I'm a terrible impulse buyer and usually pay to much for a gun I could have gotten for less money if I shopped around.

Have the new TX 22 TORO and a Ruger lcp ii .22. Get the new tx .22. Super reliable, great accuracy, and trigger. The Ruger is very unreliable.

I heard that from several people. One said CCI HV works good in the Ruger. That's my go to ammunition if I'm having problems with a semi automatic .22. If it's choking on CCI I may have another problem. I have the LCP II in .380 and haven't had any problems but I see Ruger has dropped it from their line. IMG_0509.JPG

CCI HV runs the best for sure but still not 100%. Anything else still has at least one failure per mag. The Ruger is accurate for how small it is. The Taurus has run everything low/high velocity, suppressed/un-suppressed reliably with great accuracy.

I collect Beretta pistols and think the 70S is just about perfect. The Israeli security teams on El Al airlines thought so too. Mine does not have the can, but I do have both 3-1/2 and 6-inch barrels for it. The Beretta 948 is nice too, being a .22 LR understudy for the M1934 .380

Not really small, but I've been very happy with my Sig 322. It does take a little while to learn how to load the 20 round double stack magazine. If you don't do it right you WILL have issues. But once I figured it out mine works perfectly.

I've shot a Ruger SR-22 that might have been even better. But it is one another shooter handed to me at the range. Only put one magazine through it, but I was left with a favorable impression.
