Like the title says, I am looking for a source for some 9.3x72 Rmm Sauer ammunition...

A friend of mine found a rare old Drillings, SxS, with an "underbarrel" (the most common type of Drilling gun)

he doesn't necessarily want to shoot the thing, but would like a box of ammo to keep with the gun, for posterity's sake I guess...

Can anyone here help? I looked at all the online sources I could find, and NOTHING...

According to Cartridges of the World, the 9.3x72R Sauer is totally obsolete and is not the same as the "regular" 9.3x72R which is still made by S&B and RWS. I think you and he would have to get into the cartridge collector's market to find specimens.

You could get into things like chamber casting to see if maybe he has a J.P. Sauer drilling chambered in "regular" 9.3x72R for which ammo is available.

Edit to note - the S&B ammo the other guys are finding is "regular" 9.3x72R. 9.3x72R Sauer is a different cartridge, bottlenecked instead of straight taper. As above, a chamber cast would tell the difference if gun markings are not clear.

You want a real challenge, try finding the 16 ga. 2⅝" shells the smooth bore barrels on those usually took.

i thought Ballistic Products still sold the empty hulls for that....

Ammunition

I ran into a fellow in pittsburgh, pa recently...His co. had all those weird calibers...The name of the outfit was AArdvark Laboritories. I dont have an adress or number, but I hope it helps.

SGN

You might skim through and/or post an add in SGN. I see oddball ammo listed from time to time.

That one is a pretty tall order though.
