The urge has struck and I seem to have a wild hair for a S&W Mod 39 ASP. If anyone has a lead on one I would appreciate the information. That said, once I discover the price, I might choak but right now, I want one pretty badly. Thanks for your help.

Wow! $3,500 choke, choke, choke! It looks like I am going to keep looking. The tribute ASP 2000 looks pretty good and I have sent an inquirie.

Never did appear in the movies. Bond did use an ASP in one of the books, I don't remember which one.

Cabela's in Buda TX had an engraved ASP in the gun library last time I was in there.

Try these web based sources...

If you really want to play Bond, James Bond(for our non book readers, the ASP 9mm was 007's sidearm in many James Bond novels, :cool:) check these sources;

www.gunsamerica.com Great site! :D
www.gunbroker.com

PS: Why S&W or any other major gun company did not adopt or research the ASP's excellent ideas/designs is WAY beyond me...:rolleyes:.

Some of 007's novel handguns...

Bond James Bond used a few different handguns in the authorized novels;

1) HK P-7 9mmNATO
2) A stock FN High Power 9mmNATO
3) HK P-9S 9mmNATO
4) HK VP-70 9mmNATO, :barf:
5) A Ruger SA Blackhawk .44magnum(as a "car stopper", ;))
6) In the newer books, when Bond worked for the UK's SIS, I think he is issued a stock Glock model 19 9mmNATO. I did not read these books in detail so I can't be 100% sure.

Dang! I was in Cabela's in Buda last week and didn't spend any time in the gun library (it looked a little spendy). I looked at a grade B HK P7 for about $200 too much and decided that this was not the place to buy guns. My nephew bought a scope for his AR project. I would thing that an engraved ASP would actually lower its' vlaue.

I saw an ASP years ago at a gun collectors show; as well as seeing several Devels at the same time. Even then they were pricey; somewhere in the neighborhood of $600 to $800, at a time when most full size autos were priced at around $200. Both were nice guns, elevating the Model 39 into a truly effective CCW by their innovations. The only thing I didn't like about the ASP was the Guttersnipe. I preferred the more conventional set-up on the Devels. At any rate, good luck with your quest.

if you're thinking about a Devel...you might as well just get a S&W 3914

the guttersnipe sight actually works if you can train yourself not to deliberately aim
