For us around here, it's old news... He'll come through it untouched, like water off a duck. He already has a scape goat, and he is being let out for the kill. He's got the govenor on his side...

He is doing so well for the city of Chicago, in regards to murder rate. By banning all firearms in Chicago City limits, we are now number one in murder, especially by hand gun.... Yipee....

Al Capone thought he was invincible too. Leave the high profile gee whiz investigators out of it. Turn loose the accountants with their hi-cap assault pencils and Mayor Daley will hit the deck.

As has been mentioned, this will not affect Daley in the long run. Because there is no hope of removing him, his periodic scandals are actually a bad thing for Illinois gun owners. When Daley feels threatened he always launches an anti-gun campaign. It starts with photos of his police superintendent (I've forgotten the new lapdog's name)holding up scary guns or standing near a table of scary guns. Next, the Chicago Tribune will run a series of articles on gang/gun violence. It will end there if the scandal is not too big, like the Duff/wrought-iron fence deal. But for a big one like this, Daley will need a bigger distraction. For this one he'll need some help from more than the Trib. He'll need some proposed legislation and the noisy debate that goes with it. Let's see what they can come up with.
