A little off key here but, I just watched Lord of War and saw the part of Nicholas Cage doing the drug brown brown ( for those that have not seen the movie its Cocain and gun powder). Now my question is this wouldnt snorting gun powder do some seroius damage to your nose and sinus cavity, Im not really sure what gun powder consists of but I wouldnt think it had any ability to get some one high, and I would think that it would do more damage than the actuall drug.

Sorry mods, but I was serouisly wandering about this.

I don't trust Wikipedia one little bit. But since I have no medical training, I will have to differ on this.

Question though, Is't/wasn't nitro-glyicerin used to treat heat toubled patients? If so, what was the applicaiton and effect?

Seems to me, if signifigant, nitro-cellulose snorted, would produce some sort of result.

Gunpowder is potassium nitrate, sulfur, and charcol.
I would irritate the nasal linings, but likey not do any real damage (unless you really like it A LOT).
It would also not get you high.
Oh yeah, the potassium nitrate also does not "salt" you peter either .

Smokeless powder does contain nitroglycerin in varying amounts up to 85%.
Anyone who's ever handled "sweaty" dynamite(not recommended) well tell you the nitro can give you a bad headache.

For irony, Alfred Noble invented dynomite (nitroglycerine stablized by diatomacuous earth). He later developed angina, but refused to take nitroglycerine for his heart condition because he remebered the headaches it used to give him (thus he died a bit soonen than he really had to).

That's black powder. Smokeless powder is nitrocellulose and maybe nitroglycerin or nitroguanidine. I don't think nitrocellulose would do much by it's self but nitroglycerin would give you a raging migraine and nitroguanidine is just generally bad for you being carcinogenic and toxic.

Do they really mean gun powder or propellant (smokeless)? I would doubt that is gunpowder as it would be difficult or impossible to find in the modern military context. If it is propellant I wonder which one it is. If it was given to child soldiers in Africa I would assume a ball-type like AA1680.

Guys the cocaine does a number on the sinus passages all by itself without the gunpowder.

Don't snort with a regular cigarette burning, either... I'd imagine THAT headache would be more than an excedrine could cure.

For a child soldier in Africa, damage from snorting various concotions is pretty far down the list of daily hazards. The local food and drinking water is far more dangerous.

Snorting gunpowder is bad for you....Ohhh Nooo. Then again, neither is Cocaine. The cut pure cocaine with worse stuff than Gun Powder.
