I need a holster for a Government 1911 and a Sig P220R. These won't be used for concealed carry, mostly just for range or in the woods. I don't competitively shoot or anything, so I don't need one that costs a fortune, but all of the Fobus and Blackhawk holsters look to be high-riding, and with guns this heavy, I don't want something so high riding, and would really rather something with a lower ride. Any suggestions?

Well, a Bianchi GI nylon holster & pistol belt makes a nice field rig.

They offer excellent gun protection, are comfortable to wear, and drip dry in a hurry if they get rained on, or you fall in the creek.
Or there is this. If they don't have something that tickles your fancy, nobody will.

I carry my XD Tactical around the woods and on the ATV, etc in an Uncle Mike's hip holster, and it does just fine...not a lot of money either!!

For open carry that's not superfirm and cheap you really can't go wrong with an Uncle Mike's.
