    Guys and gals

In an ideal world I would like to purchase Millet sights for a couple of Old Army blackpowder revolvers I have. Alas the world is not ideal because a) they are no longer manufactured, b) I live in Australia, and c) import/export from the US is pretty well impossible. So I am looking for a plan B.

Apparently LPA in Italy (easier to import from Italy than US – go figure!) make revolver sights for the Ruger GP100 double action revolver, the top strap of which looks suspiciously like every other Ruger wheel gun – the rumour over here is that all Ruger revolver sights are interchangeable – which makes me wonder: is this true? Can I order these LPA sights secure in the knowledge that they will fit easily, or do I need to engage in serious gunsmithing to get the things to fit?

    Thanks in anticipation...

    Hi CrocDuntoc:

I gave the folks over on the Ruger Old Army Club thread in the Blackpowder Forum a head's up on your question. Maybe one of them can help, I don't have a clue myself.

Better yet, go over to rugerforum.com, scroll down to the Ruger Revolvers subforum and ask there.

Never mind, I did it for you. I'll get back to you with an answer from them shortly, I hope.

So far the results are not promising. The rear sight looks to be no problem, but the front sight does not appear to be the same (we're talking the adjustable sight versions here).

They suggested you look up part numbers at some of the sutlers like Midway, Numrich, ShopRuger.com, etc. and see if the ROA and GP100 sights have the same part numbers.

I'll continue to monitor the thread on RugerForum.com and report back if I get anything else.

Thanks guys for the (upon reflection) obvious and not so obvious advice.

Front sight I can attend to myself, but the rear sight is the killer. Mine waves about erratically when I adjust it from 50m to 25m, weirdly and unpredictably from left to right, so that a range adjustment means sighting in for windage too.

The part numbers trick is my next stop...
