My LGS carries a line of Lucas Oil products for cleaning guns. I've always thought of their products as being more for the automotive industry. Does anyone know if their products are very good for lubricating firearms

I am thinking of purchasing some of their gun oil.

Excellent stuff. I use the Extreme Duty grease and oil on all my firearms now. The company is directly marketing a few grades of both grease and oil exclusively for firearms. Several gun manufacturers are shipping those little plastic bottles of Lucas oil with their products, I've noticed.

I used to be a MPRO7 fan but after using the hot pink local oil I like it a lot better and for a lot cheaper. G2G buy some. :)

I oiled the slide rails and spring on my M&P and the insides and barrels of 7 Remington 870's with Mpro7 and Hopps gun oils while on the police range doing an 80hr course and the Mpro7 and Hopps seemed to burn off or wear out while the Lucas stayed slick for hundreds of rounds a day. The next day the oil wasn't even on the shotgun barrels and they got wet and rusted. Lucas stayed on the shotguns for a few days of shooting in the rain.

I use their gun oil. There's nothing significantly different really between firearm and automotive applications when it comes to oil. It's all about lubricating fast moving metal parts and preventing corrosion. I've used oil from a dipstick to lube guns a few times in a pinch. Works fine.

I got a bottle as a "buy $50 and get a free gift" gimmick a while back. It worked well on my SKS and my Maverick 88 during
a brutal hot summer day, no burning off/weeping away. It was good oil, but I have quite a bit of Mobil One left over from my oil changes in my vehicles. It is currently in my gear bag for relive at the range where it will live until it gets used up. I would not purchase it as it was quite a bit more per ounce than the other brands on the shelves.

Honestly the thing I like the most about Lucas gun oil is the shape of their 1 oz. bottle. They have a real thin nozzle on it that allows you to precisely place the oil where you want it. IMO, it's worth buying a bottle even if you just use it up and then refill it with some other oil of your choice. Lucas oil.jpeg

Lucas products are not much different, or any better, than most other lubricants on the market. The only real difference is the bloated price of Lucas products. Compare their motor oils with the others that are a fraction of the cost of Lucas and you'll see.

Probably true but I am an instructor and RSO and I shoot a lot. A small bottle of oil will last me for years. Whatever it costs is nothing compared to the cost of ammo.

Their gun oil is very good stuff. Makes actions very slick, stays put a long time. One of the better options out there IMHO.
Slip 2000 EWL, M-Pro7 CLear, & Lucas Extreme Duty Oil @ 40%.JPG

The Lucas Extreme gun oil is the same as the Lucas Semi-synthetic 2 stroke racing oil. I know there's a automotive oil that's the same as the standard Lucas gun oil too. But for the life of me I can't remember what it is

I don’t get the big hoopla about gun oil but I have Lucas products in my truck right now. I assume the make a killing on it as its just motor oil with additives. I’d give the lucas gun oil a try but Mobil 1 from my truck also works

There are several excellent threads on another firearms forum started by the guy who runs Battlefield Las Vegas, a very high volume theme based shooting range in Vegas. He mentioned that he was given a case to try out and they really like it. SO’s like it because it works well in the firearms and it sprays less than Slip2000 EWL on clients clothes, a big plus.

My father was a mechanic. He swore by all Lucas products, especially there additives. I have followed suit. I use their Gas Treatment religiously. My last truck was a Dodge Ram. At 150k miles it started leaking a little out of the front and rear seals. It also had started burning a little oil. I bought a bottle of their Oil treatment/stabilizer and added it instead of a quart of oil when I changed my oil. It not only stopped the seal leaks but the truck stopped burning oil and I wound up driving it until it had 440k miles on it before selling to a friend. I've been die hard Rem Oil user for years, but when my supply runs out, I will be switching to the Lucas Gun Oil. I really don't care about the cost. With only a few drops per gun per cleaning, the cost is not important if it protects my guns.

I've been using their oil treatment for many years too.
